Guest guest
Lorraine, When you use GSE to rinse sprouts, how do you go about it? I've been a bit hesitant to grow sprouts for Kulvu as I've heard about mold etc I'm still not totally sure how to go about growing the sprouts, nor how to make sure they are safe. How much GSE do you use? Do you rinse it off? Is there a residue on the sprouts? Do you have birds? If so, if there is a residue on the sprouts, is this safe for birds? - Neath and Kulvu (sweet little aqua blue budgie) Lorraine <pasofino@...> wrote: I rinse mine in GSE and that kills anything. I have to run, but I did find a lot of info searching around. There's a excerpt from the first site plus a few others which have good info on this subject : http://www.cancure.org/cancer_fighting_foods.htm Broccoli, especially sprouts, also have the phytochemical sulforaphane, a product of glucoraphanin - believed to aid in preventing some types of cancer, like colon and rectal cancer. Sulforaphane induces the production of certain enzymes that can deactivate free radicals and carcinogens. http://www.enzy.com/earthspromise/NutValues.asp http://www.herbalchem.net/Introductory.htm http://www.sprouting.com/sprouting%20seeds.htm http://www.pdrhealth.com/content/nutrition_health/chapters/fgnt14.shtm l Keep smilin Jerry in Pennsylvania

Guest guest
I don't know if I can give you a scientific answer to this but basicly phytoestrogens ( I spelled it wrong before) act like the hormone estrogen in the body. They are often called estrogen mimics. They are in foods that we eat and in the air, because of polution. They are fine for women but raise hovac with men. Guest guest
I think phytoestrogens might be good for men. If it could help them get in touch with their feminine side. Maybe they could read our minds better. Like you said, you have to have more of a scientific interest to understand a lot of the info; true, we're a sprout site, lol.) Here's what one site I visited had to say, anyway (it's not overly arcane) : What are the effects of phytoestrogen foods on men? In short term studies, the results suggest that feeding men a phytoestrogen rich diet does not affect hormone levels but may decrease cholesterol levels (high blood cholesterol is associated with increased risk of heart disease). One study showed that a small number of infants fed on soya based formula milk had high levels of isoflavones in the blood possibly sufficient to exert biological effects. The effects of this are unknown and may be positive or negative. The Committee on the Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment (COT) and the Food Advisory Committee (FAC) have reported on soya based formula and stated: " we are not aware of any report that suggests populations that habitually ingest high quantities of soya e.g. China or Japan, have impaired fertility or altered sexual development " . It has been suggested that high levels of oestrogen type compounds in the environment especially organophosphates in pesticides and plastics may be responsible for the reported decreasing levels of male fertility. Phytoestrogens are distinctly different from environmental oestrogens in that they are not stored in the body but are absorbed and excreted in urine. I DONT THINK THEY BREAK DOWN EITHER. YOU MIGHT WANT TO RESEARCH XENOHORMONES.>>>>> BUT DONT WORRY ABOUT THIS FOR TOO LONG. JEHOVAH HAS EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL. HE PROMISED THAT HE WOULD " bring to ruin those who are ruining the earth " . AND AS CREATOR, HE HAS AN AMAZING PLAN TO REGENERATE THIS EARTH. THE SCRIPTURES TELL US THAT ONE DAY THERE WILL BE A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH AND A TIME WHEN THERE WILL BE NO SORROW, NO DEATH, AND ALL TEARS WILL BE WIPED AWAY. ALL THESE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WE HAVE RIGHT NOW...XENOHORMONES, GEOGRAPHICAL DISASTERS, THE ANIMALS DYING, PEOPLE SICK AND HOMELESS, THE CONTAMINATED FOOD CHAIN.... MAN HAS BROUGHT ALL OF THIS ON HIMSELF. MAN WAS GIVEN CHARGE OF THIS WONDROUS PLANET AND THE DIVERSITY OF THESE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES AND MANKIND HAS RUINED IT OUT OF GREED, SELFISHNESS, MEANNESS,,, AND HAS TRAMPLED WHAT WAS MOST BEAUTIFUL ...AND FOR WHAT...TO MAKE PLASTICS????? LIFE SHOULD HAVE HAD MORE IMPORTANCE. What if you gave a child a puppy, and as that child grew up, he fed the puppy poisons just out of not caring, dumped chemicals in puppy's waterbowl carelessly, sometimes gave him drugs for amusement to see what it would do, shocked puppy with electricity for entertainment.....this is what man has done. By pollution and experimentation. Think how Jehovah must feel. We were given charge over these precious gifts and look how man's greed and carelessness is responsible for this. Man has destroyed what was precious and beautiful. No wonder Jehovah said his spirit would not always strive with mankind. Haven't you known of parents who " wrote off their kids " when they became incorrigible? unappreciative? selfish? Jehovah is beyond disappointment and anguish. His wrath is being unleashed. Have you ever given a child something and you saw they were not taking care of it and in your disgust said " Well, fine! I'll just take it back " . It so hurts to see this happening. But at the same time I know mankind deserves to reap what he has sown. Mankind has been warned. He has been offered instruction, but turned a deaf ear and preferred to follow doctrines that were more self-seving. And those who are ruining the earth will probably never take responsibility for what they have done. They would never change. So Jehovah has to change it. Oh, it is a day of darkness. IT IS TOO LATE TO CORRECT THE THINGS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN SET IN MOTION. ITS TOO LATE NOW TO WORRY ABOUT THE POLLUTION AND THE XENOHORMONES, ETC ETC. WE ARE AT THE END OF THIS SYSTEM FOLKS. WE ARE ENTERING THE DARKEST HOUR NOW. AND IF THE MODERATORS WANT TO KICK ME OFF FOR " GETTING OFF SUBJECT " THEN LET ME ASK HOW ITS OFF SUBJECT...WHERE DO SEEDS COME FROM? WHAT GIVES LIFE TO MAKE THEM GROW? HOW CAN SOMETHING THAT SEEMS SO INSIGNIFICANT AS A SMALL SEED GIVE SUCH POWER TO SUSTAIN A HUMAN BEINGS LIFE AND ENERGY? WHO THOUGHT TO CREATE SUCH THINGS? YOU THINK IT JUST DRIFTED IN FROM OUTER SPACE?

Guest guest
Are you sure it is mold? From the Sprout People website: --- Note: These wonderful little Brassica plants have a unique root structure. Brassicas will show microscopic roots starting around day 3. They are called root hairs and are most visible just before Rinsing when the sprouts are at their driest. When you Rinse the root hairs will collapse back against the main root. Many folks thing these root hairs are mold - but they are not. Now you know! --- For broccoli the seeds should be soaked about 8 hours (a little less or more is not a problem), then rinsed and drained. Make sure that there isn't a lot of water in the bottom of the ouside container of the EasySprout. Rinse and drain at least twice a day. The way I usually rinse is to fill the container with water, slosh the inside part up and down gently, then pull it out, let the water run out, then run some fresh water down over the sprouts. Let it drain and put it back together. Bill Broccoli Sprouts I just got my first bag of broccoli seeds and began to sprout them in my EasySprouter but I only got a few sprouts (didn't soak them long enough) and the sprouts, which were only 1/4 inch long, had white mold on them. How can I prevent the White Mold ? Was there too much moisture? Should I have not rinsed them? What's up ? Dwayne

At a mere 3 days old, they contain at least 20 times as much of disease-fighting sulforaphane glucosinolate (SGS) as their elders; SGS has been shown to: Kill tumors The chemical triggers enzymes in the body that either kill cancer cells or keep them from growing.
