Thanks for letting us know that you have too much calcium in your body

and had to give up the Calcium D-Glucarate. I will have my levels

checked in a few months but wouldn't have thought about it if you hadn't

mentioned it.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I've learned a lot from

you.

Yes, too much calcium in the body can feed cancer I have read. The doc was

looking for mets to the liver or bone, which would have indicated higher calcium

levels. But when she did the alkalizing phosphate test nothing showed up to

indicate this.

Thanks for your encouraging thoughts, Arlyn. I feel a great responsibility to

those on this website as so many of you have reached out to me and helped me

immeasurably. We are all in this together.

Even though some of the alternative treatments turn out bad, I do not think that

alternative docs are inherantly bad. Most of them mean well, but just need to

study and research more.

Sincerely,

Dorr

If you can tell me how to save money by not needing to purchase calcium

D-Glucarate, I'd love to hear it! When I skip a few doses, I notice it.

So, I know the Calcium D-Glucarate is doing its thing as far as

estrogen related items go.

Thanks Barb!

For now, this is what I will do:

TRT - 10% compounded cream - 0.45 ml twice a day (before I was at 0.4 ml twice a

day; tried 0.5 ml x 2 and went into roid-rage within 2 to 3 days; with going

from 0.4 to 0.45 went from T=450-500 to T=1,300 to 1,400 (end of the limit).

DIM - one 75 mg caps a day (at dinner)- just started taking this. I will adjust

it as needed.

Zinc - one 50 mg tabs a day (at lunch)

Calcium d-Glucarate - one 500 mg tabs a day (at bkfst) - just started taking

this too.

In addition, daily I take my multi-vitamin/mineral (with 2 mgs Copper), plus

additional 250 mg vit c (chewies), 400 IU vit. E & 160 mg of Saw Palmetto - at

breakfast. This is complemented with a protein shake. Also, 1 Prilosec (cannot

go on without it!!).

Twice a week (Sundays & Wednesdays), I add 25,000 IU vit A (beta-carotene) - at

bkfst

Once a week (Sundays), I add selenium (I think it is somewhere around 300 mg) -

at bkfst.

Thanks to you and Phil!!

Best regards,

Flaco

I have not been on DIM for some yrs I do know one needs to be sure they have

good DIM there is a lot of junk sold out there Indolplex/DIM dose not get killed

in the stomach. The new BioResponse's brain is said to be good but I never

tried it looks OK the take about better absorption.

Take the DIM at dinner time with food if your going to use TMG with it take the

TMG at bedtime.

Barb, Yes you may!

Prilosec - severe acid reflux problem. I started with antacids, then Pepcid AC

and now Prilosec (all under gastroenterologist supervision). I suffered from

EBS and now it is much better due to reduced stress, better eating habits and

(in my opinion) better hormonal balance. Prilosec I still need on a daily basis

unfortunately.

Saw palmetto I take it for prostate health. I just now read an article about

the possible interference of this herb with the PSA test. I did not know that.

I think I will stop taking it some months before my next test. So far all my

PSA tests and tactile exams have been great.

Should I be concerned about these two supplements/OTC?

Acid reflux is often caused by low thyroid so I would want yours checked out.

Saw palmetto in some men enhances estrogen production, by limiting the DHT

pathway.

I get tested for thyroid every year. I was hyperthyroidic for years. Took

Tapazole to control it. I am off it for over 10 years now. So far so good.

If I were low in thyroid function I should be gaining weight, correct? Well,

that is not my case. Through I have gained some weight lately but nothing to be

alarmed. One time I gained lots of weight but it was due to Remeron

(depression; I was later diagnosed with low T and put on Androgel).

After all we discussed here + what I read, I think Saw palmetto is history.

Thanks!

Most people who've been on ATD and then go into remission usually have hypo

labs. TSH is fine, but TSH doesn't tell the whole story.

> If I were low in thyroid function I should be gaining weight, correct?

Not necessarily, when I was at my lowest dose of thyroid (1/2 grain), I was

ultra-thin and gaunt. Now at 2 grains I weigh 15 lbs more (but look healthier)!

That's because in some, when thyroid is low, cortisol goes low too, so

adrenaline is secreted to compensate. So some hypos get fat, others get thin.

Same with cholesterol, high or low can be hypo, pulse too because of adrenaline.

So Barb, which tests should I ask my doctor to perform? I think she is doing 2

of the thyroid series; I just do not recall which ones?

Or should I visit an endo?

NO Endos are the WORST! You want Free T3, Free T4, reverse T3, TSH, you can add

total T3 and total T4 since I assume you had Graves'. All the other stuff on a

thyroid panel like uptake is just garbage and doesn't tell you anything. Might

as well do a morning cortisol and ferritin and iron panel too if that hasn't

been done, along with your CBC.

From the Mayo Clinic these are the symptoms to watch for:

¡An enlarged thyroid

¡Protruding eyes

¡Anxiety

¡Intolerance to heat

¡Tremor

¡Weight loss

Only Protruding eyes (family trait), anxiety (I am chlaustrophobic(sp?) and I

have developed intolerance to heat (funny considering I come from the

Caribean!!). None of the other symptoms are with me.

I will talk to my GP about this possibility and see if she will go along with

the extra tests.

Thanks!

The protruding eyes are caused by the TSI antibody for Graves'. You would test

TSI with TBII (aka TRab). Sounds like you're still hyper actually.

If you were hypothyroid, low cortisol and ferritin could be why. The CBC is

just cause everyone's been talking about thick blood lately, and that would rule

it in or out for you.

Here is a good link about it if your blood labs are low for a morning fasting

Cortisol test below 12 do a 4x's in a day Saliva test to see how your rhythm

looks it should be high in the morning and lower by bedtime. Also if you

cortisol levels are low your thyroid will not work right. You need Cortisol to

carry the Thyroid hormones out of your blood into your cells.

Read this link and the links in it.
