Guest guest
Well I ended up at the ER at 2:00 AM on Friday morning. I WOULD NOT recommend doing a flush while in pain for 3 days. I think it just made things worse. (I am not saying don't do the flush, just wait until a time when you are pain free and your body is properly prepared) I was in severe pain with in an hour of ingesting the EV olive oil and magnesium citrate. I took a long shower with the massage shower head beating on my back and stomach alternating. It did not help. I finally fell asleep around 12:00 AM across my bed in a ball with a long hot compress along my stomach and a hot water bottle on my back as hot as I could tollerate wrapped with my csection binder (it's a " good thing " ). I woke up again at 1:30AM and the pain was worse. We woke up the kids and put them in their car seats and my hubby dropped me off at the ER at 2:00 AM – This pain was worse than labor. I was in tears during the admission process. A resident took my history and a couple hours later I was seen by a surgical resident. They asked my why I did not have my GB out 1.5 years ago when I had it scheduled and I told them I prepared my will, and was ready to do it and cancelled it because I was afraid of dying on the table when they explained how simple it was (I know but I am concerned about living without my GB) I just listened and nodded – I JUST WANTED SOME PAIN MED. My lab results came back around 4:30 AM and the only thing was a slightly elevated white blood cell count. Liver and everything else was normal. Finally a surgeon came in around 5:30 AM and felt around my abdomen and I had pain in my GB plus down the center of my stomach and intense pain in the center of my back. Around 6:30 AM I had a chest x-ray. They said they could not take it out because I had pain for so long. They scheduled an ultrasound for 7:00 AM. They suspected an infection and/or possible pacreatitis and proscribed antibiotics. Before the ultrasound I was finally able to vomit until I got a lot of yellow bile out (Is that gallbladder bile?). I felt better after that. I was finally given a Demerol shot at 8:00 AM – that was a " good thing " . Within minutes I just felt sore. It was great! Around 8:30 AM they started my IV with antibiotics and admitted me. By the time the Demerol wore off around 1:00 PM I was just sore – like someone had punched me in the stomach or had done 500 situps. So I did not take any more meds. By 5:00 PM I wanted to go home but they wanted to keep me overnight until I had no pain and to see how I would respond to food. On Saturday AM I felt fine was given a low fat breakfast – ½ a plain Bagel and 1 pancake. That tasted great after not eating for 24 hours. I had ½ chicken breast sandwich for lunch and was released at 1:30 PM on Saturday. OBSERVATIONS: I am 100% sure I did pass stones but not many. One floated. These were different. Luckily I was at the hospital and had access to rubber gloves so it was easier picking it out of the toilet. 6 weeks ago when I had stones pass, they were blackish green and were very soft. This was harder and light brown in color and when I squished it in between my fingers it had the sensation of squishing a warm " M & M " candy. It had a soft outer shell with more of a gel-like, darker, almost greenish center. And it smelled nasty – like I had never smelled before. It was so easy to squish I can't imagine that this would get stuck. The ultrasound showed nothing unusual except the gallstones in my gallbladder which I had seen before. No blockages. I suspect the pain may be from the irritation associated with these nasty things breaking open in my ducts and irritating them rather than something getting stuck. With all the deep massaging I did, there is no way that any of these stones that could possibly have been stuck would have survived whole. I think I squished them while deep massaging which is why I think I am not seeing them in the toilet. I also think that is why I felt so much better after the antibiotic had a chance to kick in. My theory is based on something I read on the 'net which indicated that these stones are filled with bacteria. So when I squished them while deep massaging they were breaking open in my gallbladder and ducts and releasing the bacteria which irritated things. What do you think? I also never had a fever. It is Sunday and I had pain last night and am still in pain. There was a problem with getting my Tylenol with Codiene and antibiotic perscription. When my kids and/or husband are around the pain gets worse. There is a direct correlation. It was so peaceful at the hospital, part of me wished I stayed over the weekend as they wanted me to. I am convinced at this point the two gallbladder attacks are due to the increased stress and tension in my life. My diet is bad and has not changed, except for changing over to Olive Oil and whole wheat pasta and organic cheeses. So why can I enjoy pizza and Chinese food for two years and now all of a sudden I am having problems with macaroni and cheese and a small bowl of ice cream? I think it is stress – in the last two months I lost my Dad in an accident, my husband lost his job, has no prospects of finding a job, he is home 24/7 and we are experiencing a lot of marital tension. Not to mention a rambunctious 2 and 4 year old. I think I just need to get away. Thanks for listening. THE NEXT STEP: I don't know. I am still in pain right now. I hope when I take my antibiotics it will subside again. I am scheduled for surgery in 6 weeks. I do not want to have it out. I am going to try The Liver Cleansing Diet which I can not locate right now (which adds more stress). So if someone could email me the basics of specifically what I can/should eat the first few weeks of the LCD, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you all for your concerned emails. I appreciate it. God Bless. Naomi
