Guest guest
Hello, For those of you that are having residual neuropathy as a result of chemo I offer the following. Some of the supplements that have shown some effect on neuropathy include magnesium, alpha-lipoic acid (also known as thioctic acid) and gamma linolenic acid (GLA). I have a recurrence of Hodgkin's Lymphoma and in my research I came across this at Dr. Sircus' website www.magnesiumforlife.com: " ...the incidence of hypomagnesemia in critically ill cancer patients is high. In animal studies we find that Mg deficiency has caused lymphopoietic neoplasms in young rats (FYI: lymphopoietic neoplasms are namely non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia). A study of rats surviving Mg deficiency sufficient to cause death in convulsions during early infancy in some, and cardiorenal lesions weeks later in others, disclosed that some of survivors had thymic nodules or lymphosarcoma. " That started my magnesium journey. In 2001 I had stage 4B HL with metz to spine and underwent 6 months of ABVD chemo. During and since that time I have had tingling from time to time, mostly at night during my sleep, in my lower arms and hands. Since adding magnesium chloride to my protocol, I haven't felt any more tingling at all. I use the Ancient Minerals magnesium cell oil recommended on Dr. Sircus' web-site by spraying it on my legs and feet each day after i get out of the shower. I also used it in foot baths every night for about a month. I take Alta brand magnesium chloride tablets which I order from the Vitamin Shoppe, 12 tablets a day, spaced out over the day. Magnesium chloride is the preferred form of magnesium as other forms of magnesium don't absorb well and get eliminated without benefits other than laxative effects. Dr. Sircus has a fantastic web-site for magnesium use; he is a proponent of bicarbonate use, selenium, and iodine in the treatment of many diseases, especially cancer, and I highly recommend that you visit his site. I have read several of his books and they are by far some of the best stuff I have read in my research to beat this disease through alternative means without chemo or radiation or a stem cell transplant. So far I am winning the battle. Anyway, I'm not doctor or healthcare expert, but for what it is worth, if I were having those stinging neuropathy pains people have been writing about, I would try magnesium chloride and see what happens.
