When grating, I would wear latex or some sort of plastic gloves in order not get the oils from the peppers and garlic on the hands and subsequently in the eyes. Also important is to keep the bites of this sandwich small and inside the mouth while chewing. Getting those oils on the lips can be uncomfortable. Quite naturally people end up touching their eyes or lips which can result in a painful experience. Today, I'd like to share with you a simple way to make a tincture, which simplies your efforts. Making a quick, easy tincture prevents getting the hot pepper and garlic oils in the eyes. It only takes a few minutes and can last 10 years without refrigeration. It is also plenty powerful Making an herbal tincture is really, really easy. You need three things to make the tincture: Habaneros peppers, enough to fill your blender, Garlic cloves, one or two bulbs, Cheap vodka or brandy, or Apple Cider Vinegar with " the mother " (cloudy stuff at bottom) - common brand name – Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. You'll also want to use plastic or rubber gloves. Remove stems from the peppers. Fill the blender with the peppers. Wear the gloves whenever you touch the peppers, or you'll be sorry! The oils will get into your fingers, which you probably won't like that. Peel all the garlic cloves and cut them lengthwise to see if there are any green sprouts within. The green sprouts can cause stomach upset. Remove the sprouts and throw them away. Then fill the blender abut 2/3 of the way to the top of the blender with equal parts vodka and filtered water. You could also use apple cider vinegar (ACV) in place of the alcohol and no water. Make sure the ACV has " the mother " in it which is the cloudy stuff that settles to the bottle of the bottle. (If you choose to use ACV, I'd refrigerate it.) If you have type " O " blood, ACV might disagree with you. If it does disagree with you, I wouldn't use it. Run the blender for about 60 seconds until the peppers have been mushed (Mushed is a highly technical, medical term. You'll know mushed when you see it.) Pour the mixture into a dark GLASS bottle with a tight lid. Shake it every day for two weeks. Then it is ready to be strained. You can also start using the mixture immediately by using a tablespoon. Guest guest Posted October 28, 2010 Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 I found this posting extremely exciting as I've been doing scientific research on lipid effects in cancer (recent publication, http://www.lipidworld.com/content/8/1/54) and have recently found that dietary based lipids such as EPA and DHA in fish oil appear to be highly synergistic with polyphenols such as capsaicin in red peppers. Other polyphenols with similar anticancer activity, apparently targeting the cancer cell mitochondria, are EGCG in green tea, curcumin in tumeric, and caffeic acid (from coffee, about which G and I have been corresponding). This combination appears indeed to be extremely effective in particular against certain types of leukemia, whose cells contain myeloperoxidase, which very much potentiates this antitumor mitochondrial effect. I actually observed a dramatic response by a leukemia patient to a moderate, not high, dose of concentrated DHA alone - the patient had blood tests monitored 3x weekly, and over the course of three weeks, he went from in bed 24/7 to out and about, walking miles, with leukemia counts dropping over that period. EPA/DHA and polyphenols in vitro are shown effective against every cancer type tested, and much higher doses, easily achievable, could be successful against any cancer type. Note that for lung cancer, there is one well documented case of a patient who had a continuing remission of a lung tumor using concentrated DPA+DHA alone, no polyphenols. This reference for this is available at www.ufachallenge.org (username " membrane " , password " effect " - see references to the right, and click). An optimal regimen combining higher doses of EPA/DHA from the best source with best source of polyphenols could be much more potent. The efficacy of this dietary approach could be enhanced by consuming high doses of concentrated EPA/DHA rather than low levels of cod liver oil, and one would certainly not want to use the omega-6 based evening primrose oil based at least upon this indicated mechanism of action. Omega 3 fatty acids, and especially the long chain ones (DHA,EPA) have this antitumor mitochondrial effect, not omega 6s. Also, omega 6s can promote cancer growth. I've been working with the approach of using very high doses of these agents over a short period, an intense regimen of less than one week, with most potent agents (Solgar omega 950 seems best for EPA/DHA - I've had this tested in an analytical lab), going for dramatic and immediate anticancer effect. This approach has been modified based upon experience with first five patients, which has shown encouraging results, no toxicities, but not yet the 100% rate of major response that's the goal. For me it is simple, I quit synthesizing vitamin A from my food, thus my eyesight, skin, hair and headaches let me know in short order. By eating beef and lamb, and drinking raw milk all from animals that are raised on 100% forage based diets has ended my problems. We don't eat a lot of meat, about 4 or 5, four to six ounce servings a week. Milk tends to be consumed in kefir smoothies, but we do use the cream to make our own butter and ice cream. My health improved drastically when this change was implemented. I was not doing well on taking either vitamin A pills, or fish oil pills or cod liver oil. I had a constant feeling of nausea, to say the least. We raise our own food, so I know it is 100% forage based. Unfortunately, too many farmers are careless about this and it makes a huge difference even if it is a handful of grain now and then. I am working to add more hot peppers to our diet, but it is not easy. As I understand, for health purposes, cooking or drying destroys the good stuff, so they must be eaten raw and fresh. The only thing I have found we can tolerate is pico d'gaio [sp?] Having grown up on a fairly bland diet, I am looking for ideas.
