Guest guest
Dear , I have had good luck with hormones applied through the skin - like the Estraderm patch and progesterone compounded at Abrams Royal Pharmacy in Dallas. Guest guest
Sorry I'm not one of the ladies, however my wife takes estrogen in the form of tri-estrogen which is supposed to be the same as human Estrogens and is made at compounding pharmacies. This is radically different from the standard Premerin or however it is spelled which comes from horses. Something to consider if you are on Premerin. Dr. has a book on this topic. > Hello, > > This is mainly for the ladies. Ladies, have any of you been able to > incorporate hormones into your routine of getting better from CFS? Guest guest
That is interesting, because estrogen has been used to lower lp(a) which causes thick blood. So would have thought the opposite. Cindi >>>>>I am low in estrogen but everytime I take it my blood gets thicker and my yeast gets worse. Guest guest
Hello - I don't take hormone replacement. However, my estrogen levels have been very high over the last three years, probably due to many years of birth control pill use. Do any of you have this problem? I used calcium d-glucarate and indole 3-carbonate to try to help my liver clear this and it is better but not yet in the normal range. Guest guest
Jennie, Inositol lowers high estrogen levels. I didn't look for any studies. Guest guest
Stania - thanks for sending this. I did a search and it appears to be the same thing as IP-6 which is also good for immune support. Is this your understanding? Guest guest
I had a complete hysterectomy in June of 1999 and I've been on a hormone patch since. I had my MGB on 3/08/00 (wearing my patch) and I've lost 88 pounds to date. I never did gain weight after I started the hormone patch....was just big to begin with LOL.... Guest guest
Seems like many of you are saying that the hormones are making you gain weight or at least have trouble loosing. I have been on hormones for about 5 years after a complete hysterectomy and gained about 50lb. I wonder if that is why I have such a slow weight loss. The other MGBers out there with slow weight loss....are you on hormones? I am tempted to take the patch off and see what happens! Guest guest
Joni, I felt the same way. I probably really should have put my patch on last week, but I waded through it, and it was very difficult. I was so bitchy about 3 weeks post op to 2 months post op that people were emailing me privately to beg me to put my patch back on, which I stubbornly never did. My weight loss has slowed so much that I really don't want to chance it. I know that I have to be mentally ill to sacrifice feeling so bad for a few days vs. not losing weight. I felt great when I did wear the patch. I'm just mental and can't bring myself to put it on again. manda > Seems like many of you are saying that the hormones are making you gain > weight or at least have trouble loosing. Guest guest
He wants her to get everything under control. I think she is seeing another dr for her problems(she also has cholesterol problems). I feel very badly for her, especially since it was so " easy " for me to get approval... etc, and she is having a damned hard time. I want to cry for her. She says that she has lost 16 lbs in the last 2 weeks, but she still must be feeling terrible. manda \ > Did he put her on meds for her hormones and give her another date? > > Manda, that is AWFUL. Guest guest
I've been on the patch a couple of weeks now. Am I supposed to feel something different? Or is this just a preventative measure. My emotions are pretty much the same like a swing. How long does it take? aW Re: hormones Joni, I hope you don't think I was suggesting that you take your patch off. How long does it take? a Not sure if you are suppose to feel any different. When I had my hysterectomy about 5 years ago, the dr. came in later that day. He said " well, you have had your 20 minutes of menopause, we are going to start you on HRT immediately. " So I never knew what it was like without the hormones. Guess I will find out. I plan to leave the patch off for a month and see if my weight loss speeds up at all, or until I become such a Bitch I have to put it back on. There are alot of women out there that don't use hormones. This will be an interesting test. Joni > >

Guest guest
> Latest reading for TSH was 6.44 > Does anyone know with this value if it indicates hypothyroidism? A TSH of 6.44 is definitely hypothyroid - the usual range is something like 0.4-4.5. I have a TSH of 2.91 (last time I was tested) and have lots ( & lots!) of hypo symptoms. There is increasing evidence that a TSH of greater than 2 is indicative of hypothyroidism. HTH Sally
Guest guest
Hey all, Is anyone else on the estrogen patch? I'm 3 1/2 months out and am ready to kill someone....my hormones are starting to effect me. Dana gave me a perscription after surgery in July. I've waited till I thought I needed it. Since then I lost the perscription and have been overwhelmingly MEAN! I don't get weepy or anything just MEAN and Irritable. My poor husband has to deal with it till I get the patch. He says He's never seen me this bad. Poor Guy. How long after surgery did any of you have to be on the patch? Symptoms? Sex Drive? I have none. Guest guest
I was on the patch before I even left N.C. Like, a week after my surgery. But I'd been bawling my eyes out. Not mean, just very, very unhappy. The patch DID help and will probably help you too. Couldn't hurt, right? Hurry before you're husband clobbers you <lol>! You can call Rutledge's office and they'll call you in a prescription for the estrogen patch. Guest guest
, Mean just doesn't quiet describe how bad I get when I need my hormones. Death wish for individuals who cross me is more like. I couldn't use the patch and ended up on pills. Call your PCP or make a visit and they can get you started. Minimal dose. It's like having a back massage, chocolate and a hot shower all at the same time....I don't miss my estrogen unless it's by accident or they post warnings of possible terrorist activity in our area! in SC

The patch did diddily squat for me and my gyny put me on some kick bootie hormones that turned me into a tiger and I wanted to eat every guy in sight!! I had to cut out one of them because it got so bad lol. Oh my..... I cannot believe it. I don't know if I should tell you what she gave me. I'd hate Dr. R to have to fight off all these " hot " women at the banquet in December LOL. Hmmmmm.... aW > > Hey all, > > Is anyone else on the estrogen patch?
