Guest guest
Hi everyone, My name is Anne and I am new to the group. I was recently diagnosed with having gallstones a few weeks ago. It came as a shock to me because I am only 25 and am about 126 lbs. It took a while to get a diagnosis, however. I went to a doctor in my internal med. group and he told me it was probably just gastritis...sent me for an ultrasound and the tech that did it saw nothing. BUT, my symptoms got worse and I decided to go to a gastro. doctor. He suspected gallstones, and he ordered an ultrasound which he and a tech did. He (and the tech) saw one larger stone(a little over a half inch) with several small ones. How could the 1st ultrasound have missed that? I am a little mad about that. My symptoms are: weight loss (10 lbs), indigestion, right shoulder pain, belching, vomiting/dry heaves(sp?), and a pain that comes only once in a while below my right rib and going into my side. I am scheduled for surgery to remove the gallbladder on 12/27. My question is: Can gallstones be missed by one person, and seen by another...meaning do they move around and miss being seen? I do not doubt my diagnosis, but am just curious. Thanks in advance for any help! Sincerely, Anne
