Please make sure the fresh coconut you bought are non-irradiated.  USDA /FDA

requires imported shipments of fresh coconut be irradiated.  If you ask, the

store personnel, they don't know because they only get from middlemen.  One way

of knowing is that the juice has a " toasty " taste.

But , if the FDA requires fresh imported coconut to be irridated, how can

you get fresh non-irridated coconut? The ones I eat don't taste toasty, however.

Don't they grow and bear nuts in mainland US like Florida? I  know Hawaii has

them, but again, am not sure if they are irradiated when they enter mainland US.

 

I don't buy anymore.  I used to, but after the toasty taste, i stopped.
