do you have any experience with the product policosanol ?

Never heard of this until today. I just looked up information regarding this

product and it would appear to be more for maintenance purposes than for

reduction of cholesterol. With its main purpose being to inhibit the production

of cholesterol I would question its use by someone trying to reduce their

cholesterol levels and get the liver to produce the right amounts of HDL

cholesterol for getting out too much LDL cholesterol.

I guess I'm going to have to do some more research regarding this product but

from what I can tell it's really not for someone trying to get their liver to a

point where it's doing the job it's suppose to do.

HDL is not so easy to raise, so I think 17% is pretty decent!

I think it is hard to get a high HDL on a very low fat high carb diet. I

followed such a diet for many years and maintained a total cholesterol of

about 100-120 mg/dl with and HDL of 45-55 mg/dl. After switching to a low

carb diet (still high in greens, berries, nuts), my total cholesterol went

to 155 mg/dl with an HDL of 105 mg/dl.
