Bill Corley From: janinecmiller I am having my second cankor sore within just a few weeks of my last one. Is there a natural remedy? It's painful, and I just had some walnuts, which made it really hollar. ~J

Guest guest
The Lysine should probably be taken in a dose larger than the bottle recommends. Pop a couple of capsules down a couple of times during the day. It deals with the Herpes Virus and works for Shingles as well as other Herpes attacks. Joe C. Guest guest
Janine, Is it a canker sore or a cold sore. I don't think lysine will do anything for a canker sore. Canker sores are generally caused by some sort of mouth trauma or eating foods that are too acidic, or under ripe. They may also be linked to a mineral or vitamin deficiency, but I'm not sure. I used to get horrible canker sores after seeing the dentist. I've stopped eating oranges - which I'm allergic to, anyway, and I haven't had one since. I basically would take some ibuprofin an hour or so before eating and that took the pain away enough to eat. ar > > I am having my second cankor sore within just a few weeks of my last one. Guest guest
It is also being said that fluoride toothpaste can be a cause of canker sores. I used to have them and would take the Lysine and clear them up but they would come back. Not until I took a B complex 100 for a long time did I finally get rid of them. I no longer have them. Yes, it is true that certain foods can cause them. I have also found that Blackstrap molasses is good to take in the mouth and slowly swallow will help to ease the pain and aid the healing. It is high in minerals the body can handle immediately. > > > > I am having my second cankor sore within just a few weeks of my last one. Is there a natural remedy? Guest guest
You have too much pitta or fire. You need to cut outspicy foods, salty foods and sour foods, which include fermented foods, tomatoes and citrus. Eat sweet foods, bitter foods and herbs and astringent foods. Foods with a lot of oil is like adding oil to fire. It burns. Ghee or clarified butter is the best oil for pitta. GB > > I am having my second cankor sore within just a few weeks of my last one. Guest guest
One can research this themselves, however, Lysine is effective for Canker. Here's one of many sites: http://www.healingdaily.com/conditions/canker-sores.htm This is a great Alternative list , however, one can still get confused by too much information which is why, when someone suggests something, let your fingers do the walking and substantiate what was said. DO NOT take anyone's word for ANYTHING without verifying it. Lysine is the 'supplement' of choice for my wife and grandson, both of whom, get what appear to be canker. Make sure certain food rich in Arginine are avoided. Chocolate, peanuts and the rest? Check it out on line. If they 'listen' and act quickly, both my wife and grandson have short-lived episodes. There was a time Carrington labs offered a 'patch' that one put on top of the canker, inside the mouth, and the pain disappeared almost instantly. It had an aloe base but I do not think it is available anymore. Hmmm, I think it's time to check for it. Here's one from The Mayo Clinic: " Alternative treatments. There are a number of drug-free options for treating and preventing canker sores, including zinc lozenges, large doses of vitamin C and B complex, probiotics such as acidophilus, and lysine supplements. Some people make a paste of alum, slippery elm powder or deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) and apply it directly to the sores. Isn't it funny how we run to conventonal sources if they back up what we believe? Keep in mind, Lysine can also be effective for COLD SORES and an attack of Shingles. Joe C. Guest guest
It's a canker sore. I used to get them a lot, but didn't have any for a good while, and now they seem to be starting up again. ~J > > > > I am having my second cankor sore within just a few weeks of my last one. Guest guest
I used to get them all the time when under stress - terrible ones on the back of my throat and tongue as well as my gums. I switched from using regular toothpaste to sodium lauryl sulfate toothpaste. Toms of Maine makes a SLS free toothpaste. That has helped tremendously. Also, cutting out as much as possible of very acidic foods helped. But I really do find since switching TP a huge change occurred.
