Guest guest
Hi Victor, You say to get vitamin D levels up around 100. Mine are currently at 93, and I was concerned about toxicity, which according to some sources is at 100. Please let me know your input on this. Thanks Fern From: Victor Swiercz ....While you do have vit D listed, make sure the levels are checked using the same procedure as Lab Corp and get the levels up to near 100 using vit D3. Some folks need as much as 20,000 units per day. Testing is the only way to know for sure....
Guest guest
Fern: Like most medication, cholecalciferol is certainly toxic in excess, and, like Coumadin, is used as a rodent poison for this purpose. Animal data indicates signs of toxicity can occur with ingestion of 0.5Â mg/kg (20,000Â IU/kg ), while the oral LD50 (the dose it takes to kill half the animals) for cholecalciferol in dogs is about 88Â mg/kg, or 3,520,000Â IU/kg. An Overview of Cholecalciferol Toxicosis. The American Board of Veterinary Toxicology (ABVT). This would be equivalent to a 110-pound adult taking 176,000,000Â IU or 440,000 of the 400 unit cholecalciferol capsules. http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/vitaminDToxicity.shtml Vic ________________________________ From: Fern <fernsiman@...> Sent: Thu, February 17, 2011 12:20:48 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Question on Vitamin D Â Hi Victor, You say to get vitamin D levels up around 100.
