Guest guest
One of the problems with this list as well as most communications by the untrained writer. Before you think, ‘oh here comes Mr. Smart a- -, be assured I have made so many mistakes writing my opinions and have been corrected by better writers, that I have learned from some of these mistakes over a long-life of errors. Instead of dogma, I now use a lot of “it seemsâ€, “perhaps†and probably could use more of “what little experience I haveâ€, or “I readâ€.............. We never stop learning. We humans tend to put forth our belief system, after all we do believe it, as something everyone else should believe therefore I think I’ll make it a profound statement. If you knew how many years I was saying, “milk causes mucous†instead of staying, ‘it appears that milk creates the condition whereby the body produces what seems to be mucous’, you would find I did that for a long time. Some may believe this is just semantics but, as brought out, there are some so hungry for what sounds like fact regarding their life and death struggle, they may grasp wrong beliefs that can lead to more wrong beliefs and eventually a quicker demise. Obviously I wouldn’t attribute the “milk causes mucous†statement to such a dramatic conclusion but hopefully a point is getting across. During the more than 60 years dabbling in Alternative practices (started about 10 years old) I’ve learned a lot................much good, some marginal and some changed because of newer information. What is not useful to me anymore are the words – ‘always’, ‘causes’ and instead I might say, ‘has a causal relationship’ and instead of always, use ‘sometimes’. Many of us correctly say, “nothing works for everyone all the timeâ€. This list provides a learning experience and once we have given our opinions on a subject, and others theirs we move on accepting what we believe to be the best answers to questions or comments. For example, the most recent subject.........It’s been ‘milked to death’. Beliefs are hard to give up..........ask me............I’m living proof. Joe C. From: Gammill said, in part, “subscribers often make life-altering decisions based on what they read here? For such a sweeping statement surely he can give us a science citation. If this is just an opinion can't he just say so. Doesn't he know how to generalize or qualify? Can't he just say, " The vegetables that we commonly encounter in Southern California seem to be a constructive way to improve one's health.'? Guest guest
Here here. Would really enjoy and of course benefit substantially from this, as would we all. For those called out by , PLEASE. lurk no more! V Gammill wrote: " I know for fact that there are lurkers on this list who are scientists and similar professionals. Why are you so shy or apathetic? Don't you realize that by active participation on this list you raise the quality of discourse? "
