Guest guest
Low grade cancers tend to have a slower metabolism and are more benign -- similar to normal tissue. They are often harder to treat, they can turn aggressive, and for many cancers they can be more deadly in the long run. High grade cancers tend to be primitive, more undifferentiated, more aggressive in likelihood of growing and metastasizing. With high grade cancers you have less time for your decision-making process, you want to have a hard-hitting approach, you don't have the luxury of making mistakes, and you must always be working on a Plan B. Grade is determined through the microscope but it can be inferred through the SUV of the lesions seen in a PET-CT, that is, how fast it takes up sugar (fluorodeoxyglucose).
