I make my tarts from the wax I have left after pouring my votives.

Make sure you use a hard wax for these. Container wax is to soft for

tarts. Your best bet is to get online & find suppliers that are close

to you & order from them. Sometimes craft stores are not the best

place to buy your waxes & oils from. Where do you live?

I live in Texas. Im so new, I dont know the difference between

waxes. I have no clue on how to get started, I just think it would

be fun. (Probably, just cleaning the pots would be hard, huh?)

Oh you have lots of good suppliers in Texas! The hardest part of

making candles is testing. You have to make sure you have the right

amount of fo, the right wick size, so on & so on. Cleaning is the easy

part LOL. You can email me offlist if you like & I will help you all I

can.

Hi Evie,

When do you plan on getting your surgery done? I am planning to go

to Dr. Aceves as well but not until later in the year. I am self pay

so Ihave to raise the $ first. I am looking to get the Lapband done

and not the RNY, just my preference. I think most people get the

Lapband but I believe there was one that did get the Fobi Pouch RNY.

If you go to Mexicolapband.com I think she is on there.

Kel! Man have I been looking for you. You are the reason I got in touch with Dr. Aceve. Do you remember one evening about 7 weeks ago(or more) I was on the OH chat asking questions about doing surgery in Mexico with Dr. Kuri? I wasn't so sure about him and you gave me Tracie's journal addy and I read it all and then contacted Nina because of Tracie's experience. Well, I just got back earlier today from Mexico. I was banded on Thursday July 28th. Man you were right about Dr. Aceve. He is the best!!! Nina and her mother Yolanda are angels in my book. They bent over backwards to make sure that my experience was as positive as it could be. I had a slight mishap at the airport and they went out of their way to make up for it. The fact that it was something out of their control and they still went out of their way to make up for it speaks volumes about them. It's official, I'm a Dr. Aceve groupie. I already have 2 friends that are interested in seeing Dr. Aceve based on my experience so you know he's gonna get referrals from me.

Hi Evie,

My mother and I are leaving tomorrow night for S.D. and are scheduled to be banded on Tues. Aug 2nd. We are both very excited! We will be keeping a journal and taking some pictures. We are confident in our choice with Dr. Aceves, but will certainly post our progress. Stay posted!!!!!

Hi Evie,

I turned in FMLA paperwork to the HR person at my job (in

California) and she informed me that I did NOT have to tell the

company ANYTHING other than I'll be having surgery. The FMLA laws

are quite explicit in protecting the patients privacy. So, that's

just what I did. I'm scheduled for lapband surgery on 8/12/05 (or

maybe 8/11 if there's space available) and I don't even have to turn

in paperwork from the Dr. until I return to work.

I was also a bit (OK, alot)leary of going to Mexico for surgery but

after I found this message board I relaxed. These incredible women -

and men - have answered every question I had just by reading through

the postings. Hope this helps.

Why did you tell them you were taking off? See I have to tell my

boss something too. But I am so scared he is going to look at me

like I am crazy for taking off to go get this surgery. I am having

surgery on Saturday and I am starting to get the butterflies.

Hi Deborah, When the Boss pushed for details, I simply stated " it

was female related " and he ran for the hills!

I chose NOT to tell my co-workers or management my personal

business. Yes, they're providing paid family leave but the details

are not their concern. I'll have a letter from Dr. A to return to

work and that's all that was required of me.

Maybe I'm lucky - I've been on this job for over 9 years and not

missed much time and our HR person has really been there for me.

When they notice the weight loss I'll just tell them I got a good

start on it after surgery and am working hard to lose more.

Remember, it's nobody's business except the people YOU decide to tell.

Don't be scared about the surgery - just read the posts and they

should ease your mind and butterflies. I'm so excited I can hardly

wait for my date with the Doctor. I'm scheduled for the 12th but

will hope for the 11th if it works for Dr. A.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

My pastor will be over next week to pray for me so we'll include you

too!

Hi Liz,

My name is Sheri and I just wanted to introduce myself because I noticed that you were having surgery on the same day as me. I haven't been writing to anyone on this bandsters group just reading other peoples stuff to learn all I can before I have surgery. Anyway I just wanted to say hi and good luck with your surgery.

Newbie here.

Greetings everyone, My name is Evie from Oklahoma and new to the list. I've been checking out Dr. Aceves and have been plesantly surprised by all the wonderful reviews. I'm still a little leery about going across the border to have this procedure done. I'm wanting to have the RnY done. Have any of you had Dr. Aceves do the RnY on you? I was also wondering, if anyone's had to turn in FMLA paperwork to their job and if their jobs gave them any problems about the doctor being in Mexico. Have any of your had serious complications afterwards? Last but not least, I might have to go by myself and was wondering if anyone else might be intrested in 'buddying-up' while we were there. I told my boss I HAD TO HAVE surgery, I just didn't tell him what type of

surgery or where. I led him to believe it was " female " stuff or I should

say, he drew his own conclusions. I am glad I didn't tell anyone at my job I

was having this surgery. I didn't want them asking questions, and watching

me eat.

Hi Sheri,

I've been wanting to email you again but our home computer crashed

Tuesday night so my only email access has been at work and I've been

trying to tie up alot of loose ends before I leave for my " female "

surgery. I will be off work from 8/10/05 until 9/6/05 unless I'm

really feeling wonderful and can't wait to get back to the rat race!

(Yeah-right!!)

I am looking forward to meeting you on the 12th and can give you a

first hand account of how it all went (good news only cause that's

all there will be!).

You wouldn't believe all the horrific surgery stories my co-workers

have been sharing with me since they found out about my surgery

date. Guess they think it'll help me somehow?

Hope all is well with you and your family & if we get our computer

back from the " GEEK SQUAD " I'll check email this weekend.

Hi Liz,

I wondered what happened to you!! Anyway I know nothing about computers except how to e-mail and pay bills so lord help me if mine goes down. I have been a stay at home mom forever and when I went to school a hundred years ago (not really) they really didn't have them. My kids know how to run them better than I do. So did you get you surgery date moved up or is it still on the 12th? I have been so nervous and excited this week I can barely function. I try to sleep at night and I just lay there and think about it. It helps a little that my kids started back to school. It has been constant running around trying to get them ready and to make sure things are done so I can take it easy when I get back. Do you have children? Also I was wondering where you live? Write back when you can. Talk to you later. Sheri

Hi ,

Sorry, I've not been in the chat room. I am glad you felt comfortable

wth Dr. Aceves. I have yet to be banded but I have heard wonderful

things from in this forum as well as in OH. I am glad you were banded

and are a part of the group. I hope to get my band sometime in Dec

because I'll have time off from work and from school so I can heal. I

hope you friends look into it as well. Best of Luck to you! :)

Hi Sheri,

Well the " Geeks " called tonight and our computer is up and running

with a new hard drive. We haven't determined yet if we've recovered

any of our lost data because they backed it up on a DVD and our

computer can't read it. We'll go back tomorrow an have them copy it

to a CD. You'd think they'd of realized the computer they had just

fixed DIDN'T have a DVD player in it!!! Makes you wonder...

My surgery will be on the 11th - the day before you but we'll still

be able to meet. I'll just be a recovering looser by the time you

get there! I too am extreamly excited and not sleeping well. I'll

get plenty pf rest after the surgery cause I'm taking 3 weeks off!

I just love the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act)becasue I'll get full

pay the entire time. I'm also very lucky that I don't need to worry

about losing my job.

Are your kids in " year-round " school? We have a 6 year old son but

he doesn't start school till Aug. 30th. We'll be dropping him at

his grandparents in Long Beach on our way to San Diego. We're

leaving the San Francisco Bay Area right after work on Wednesday.

Drop him off and then continue on to my mother-in-laws house in

Oceanside to catch a few zzzzzz's. She'll drive us to the San Diego

airport the next morning. We need to be there by 9AM (my choice).

Ernesto is picking us up. He has my picture and I got his off the

photo files.

Are you and your family driving to Mexicali? I'm really looking

forward to meeting you! Talk to you soon.

Hello Liz,

I'm glad your computer is working. I'm also glad you get to take some time off of work. That is the only thing that is really worrying me about this whole thing is how I am gonna recover with three kids that I have to care for. As I said before my husband is a pilot and is returning to work on Monday following my surgery. When he returns to work then that means he is gone for a few days so I am on my own come Monday. I know I will manage and I am making sure that I have all my housework and stuff done before we go. My youngest is not quite 2 yet and he climbs all over me still so I'm gonna have to put a stop to that for awile. Anyway, Yes we are driving to Mexicali. We live in southern California so it will only be a 3 hr drive or maybe a little less the way my husband drives(fast- like he's flying) Wow, you have quite a long drive. I've only been to san francisco once. I have an aunt that lives in San . We drove up there in one day but it sure was a long drive. The schools here are kindof wacky. My son which starts high school this year is on a traditional schedule which means he starts school on the 10th but my 6 year old daughter is in year round school. When they say year round it's not really. They still get 3 months off it is just different months. For instance her time off is November, March, and July. So she started in 1st grade on August 1st. It is hard to keep track of all the different schedules. I had better go for now. Talk to you soon. Sheri

You'd think they'd of realized the computer they had just fixed DIDN'T have a DVD player in it!!! Makes you wonder...My surgery will be on the 11th - the day before you but we'll still be able to meet. I'll just be a recovering looser by the time you get there! I too am extreamly excited and not sleeping well. I'll get plenty pf rest after the surgery cause I'm taking 3 weeks off! I just love the FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act)becasue I'll get full pay the entire time. I'm also very lucky that I don't need to worry about losing my job. Are your kids in "year-round" school? We have a 6 year old son but he doesn't start school till Aug. 30th. We'll be dropping him at his grandparents in Long Beach on our way to San Diego. We're leaving the San Francisco Bay Area right after work on Wednesday. Drop him off and then continue on to my mother-in-laws house in Oceanside to catch a few zzzzzz's. She'll drive us to the San Diego airport the next morning. We need to be there by 9AM (my choice). Ernesto is picking us up. He has my picture and I got his off the photo files. Are you and your family driving to Mexicali? I'm really looking forward to meeting you! Talk to you soon.Liz> Hi Liz,> I wondered what happened to you!! Sheri>

Hi. Not quite sure what to say. I was dx'd with breast cancer last

nov. Was scared to death but was adamant no chemo. Met with surgeon

and scheduled surgery. They also wanted to do radiation and lymph node

removal.

I have been into naturopathy for years so ran to my friend who started

me on some things. Read a lot and started doing more. When it came

time for surgery blood pressure was through the roof so they put it

off. Could not get pressure down conventionally so had blood tested

while I followed my instinct and solved that alternatively. Blood

tests came back in the very low normal range so nixed surgery. My dog

is very intune with me and lets me know about my health so I pretty

much rely on him to track my progress with my health.

Not sure what more to say but will be reading and getting a feel for

things.

Hi Cheri,

Welcome to the group. It sounds as though you've made some good

choices. I'll share some information about the Budwig Protocol which

has been healing people with all kinds of cancer, & other conditions,

for over 60 years.

From hundreds of testimonials in the Files of FlaxseedOil2, below are

3 examples from women who healed breast cancer with mets by following

the Budwig diet/plan. There's a link at the bottom for more

information.

1] Re: Breast Cancer with mets to the bones. Janice wrote: " I have

had no surgery...no allopathic medicine whatsoever. The tumors in my

breasts (both sides), have reduced by 70-80% over the last four

months on the BP. I have regained 60-70% range of motion in my left

arm (which was practically none). My right arm is at about 90%...I

had about 50% range before Budwig Protocol. "

Janice is doing very well today with full use of her arms and no

symptoms. She posts daily in the FlaxseedOil2 group.

2] Re: Breast Cancer - In '95 Daphne had a cancerous breast

tumor removed. In '01 metatasis to the vertebre was found. She began

the Budwig Plan & is now feeling healthy again.

On Jan 2, 2006, Daphne wrote: " I am estrogen positive at 12 on a

scale from 1 to 12 & since starting the Flax Oil/Cottage Cheese 5

years ago have had no more breast cancer. "

On July, 2007, she wrote " ...after getting the results of my annual

check-up, nothing new to be found, in fact the old hotspot where I

had had a back fracture from an accident has also disappeared...I am

a 12.5 year survivor of advanced BC. I still follow the Budwig diet

on a daily basis and love it. "

3] Re Breast Cancer, wrote:

" I had relapsed with nodes (4) in my armpit that were the size of

grapes on the opposite side from my primary breast cancer, and

stinging pain in two spots in my back, as well as the same pain in my

knee. I got back on the Budwig program and over the past month I

have rescheduled my doctor visit three times because I didn't want to

have nodes diagnosed. My back doesn't hurt anymore and my knee is

almost pain free- just a twinge every so often. I finally went today

after I couldn't feel any thing there anymore...and guess what -

neither did the doctor! I got a " clean bill " today, and you guys all

know the story because I have posted all the pieces. I am happy, and

grateful, and amazed, and I just wanted to let you all know. Yes, I

know that I am not cancer free - but I am here to tell you that this

is better than any chemo or radiation I have ever seen...and I am

enjoying my food and my life every day...and I feel good. I know a

blessing when I see one...and I see it! "
