I got a mattress topper that I had to hang up in the shed for almost a year before I was able to use it on my bed. ************** Start the year off right. Guest guest
Ellen, My wife and I splurged on a tempurpedic mattress, box spring and tempurpedic pillows 8 years ago, and it was one of the best things we ever did. There are not a lot of things more basically important than what one sleeps on every night, and we feel we made the best choice possible getting a tempurpedic. With our old mattress, it used to be that I would race my arms, trying to fall asleep before they did. That doesn't happen anymore. I'd be surprised if anyone ever were to come up with a more comfortable, more healthful mattress than a tempurpedic. Best wishes, Elliot
Guest guest
Has anyone had any experience with the " Sleep Number " beds that use air chambers that you can adjust to the firmness you like? Guest guest
Ellen- We slept on one for maybe 18 years. It was a revelation to stop sleeping on it and find that my lower back spasms ceased, though I also started taking Magnesium and Boron which helped. The waterbed would bend my body slightly like a hammock and this seemed to make my back problems worse, or cause/contribute. It was very nice when I was pregnant, though as the waterbed minimizes pressure points on the body and spreads out your weight evenly. We ditched it after we moved. Guest guest
Hey, do they still make water beds? I sleep on a blow up bed but have to recheck the air volume about once a week. Found out a vacuum works better than trying to myself but air in it ! lol
Guest guest
Greetings, I had slept on a water bed since the early 70s, due to the problems with my hips. My orthopedic surgeon recommended it, and it was nice to actually sleep the night through. My original water bed had no heater, just a lot of quilts between me and the water bladder. As I got older and could afford more money I got a water bed with a heater, then I got a fancy fiber filled water bed, Heaven! In 1992 I moved from my cold climate to Texas, where AC is the norm, not heat. Having a giant heat sink in the room sure makes the AC work hard. We tried going back to the way my original water bed was set up, but the humidity destroyed that idea. It took less than a week to collect a full inch of water in the liner from condensation. We ran into the air beds at a mall, and tried one. The sleep was as good as the water bed, but the memory foam in the one brand was enough to make me sick for a week. [And this was when my chemical sensitivity was just starting.] We bought an off brand from Canada, that has a silk side for summer and a cashmere side for winter. I love my bed, it is comfortable to sleep on and the off gassing problem was very short lived. However, the hoses that connect the pump to the bed developed leaks in less than 10 years and have had to be repaired. The Canadian bed, and no, their name is not on the mattress or I would tell it to you, was about 1/3 the cost of the mall brand. Guest guest
Ellen Elliot has the right idea. You can even go to Costco and buy a pad similar to a Tempurpedic that goes on top of a mattress. They cost about $120 I think. We bought one.
