Guest guest
Hi Elliot, It's not healthful to consume large amounts [6 to 9 tbs a day] of flax oil, or any oil, without making it easier to digest and metabolize. That's what the suphurated proteins in quark or cottage cheese do. They bond with flax oil during the blending process and make it water soluble so that the body can easily digest it and assimilate it into the cells. However, it's possible for the body to digest 2 or 3 tablespoons of oil a day without a problem, unless the person has liver or gall bladder cancer or other disease; then, any fat may be a problem. So, for healing purposes, Dr. Budwig recommended 3 tbs. flax oil blended with cottage cheese or quark at breakfast and again at lunch. Also, she recommended 2 or 3 tbs flax oil in salad dressing and in oleolux that doesn't need to be blended with cheese because most people can digest at least that much without making it water soluble. Guest guest
I just did the flax oil a few times without mixing it in cottage cheese and when I mixed it I still had to 'chase' it with something and sort of 'doctor' it. Sometimes I sprinkled cayenne into it, cut up onion, anything to alter it. I find cottage cheese very distasteful. If I had an illness however, I would do it exactly as recommended. Guest guest
I believe you can even make a " smoothie " with cottage cheese, flax oil and fruit, which then has a very different texture and flavor from the " muesli " mix. The thing is, though, from what I understand, that if you are going to take the flax oil/cottage cheese in such a manner, you MUST " chew " each swallow in your mouth to mix it well with saliva before you swallow. The problem with the " smoothie " method IS that it's too easy just to swallow the mixture as if it's water. But if you ARE willing to discipline yourself so as to chew each mouthful before swallowing, I think it might be a good way for someone who finds cottage cheese so distasteful to successfully do the Budwig Protocol. I expect Sandy or someone else will correct me if I am wrong in this. Elliot
