Guest guest
##### level-1 quote by Suzanne <suzanne_on_ca@...> (on) 21.01.03 (at) 00:16 +0000 >This is also known as tumeric used in Eastern cooking gives yellow colour to >relish Turmeric, or variously spelt tumeric, is Curcuma domestica Val. An even better relative for liver problems is Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. but whether this is exported from here in Indonesia or Malaysia, where it grows natively, I do not know. The rhizome grows to be *much* larger than turmeric. In the local herbal literature it is always mentioned for liver troubles rather than turmeric. Locally it is known as " temu lawak " . I am going to look into the product line of some of the traditional " jamu " (herbal remedy) firms to see if they have it in powdered form. I can buy it in the wet markets for mere pennies per kilogram. Ray
