Guest guest
I am an 11 year thyca survivor who did RAI 3x. I wish I wouldn't have done it once - as well as never having removed my thyroid. You can read my story at www.naturalthyroidchoices.com as well as see what nutrients are important. Thyroid cancer is a result of poor diet, low iodine, toxic overloaded system and in many cases untreated autoimmune thyroid disease. There is a group called " Thyroidless " where we are all *free of thyroids* due to cancer for the most part. They will all tell you that you should avoid removal at all costs and it was the worst choice they ever made. There are two on my Iodine group that are using high doses of iodine to heal from thyroid cancer w/o removing the thyroid. I knew of a woman who was successful. She had three forms of thyroid cancer and did not remove it but did Iodoral dosing up to 125 mgs / day as well as an organic diet, cleansing and high nutrient supplements. It's more than just what to do after it's how to heal before. Once its gone you are dependant on thyroid medication for the rest of your life. Very few doctors know how to adequately treat those that are thyroidless. They put you on T4 only meds which leave you sick and many disabled. Getting desiccated thyroid prescriptions (and a high enough dose) is hard. It took me 6 years to find a doctor to help me. By then I was half dead. There are many many stories like this on the Thyroidless group. It's sad. Buist, ND [ ] Life after Thyroidectomy ?? Wife will be going for complete Thyroidectomy in about a month for papillary type cancer. However, she wants to avoid RAI treatment in any way possible..... What should be the recommended diet + vitamins/minerals to take after the surgery to possibly get rid of molecular level cancer cells & scar tissue left over from surgery ? Please be specific especially for vitamins/minerals. Thanks in advance. Sajjad
Guest guest
Sajjad, Personally I wouldn't risk it. I wouldn't recommend that your wife try to avoid RAI. If there are any thyroid cancer cells that have made it outside of the thyroid the RAI will kill them. You need to have a great respect for this disease - trust me. If there is no noticable cancer outside the thyroid bed this should be the last time she will have to worry about it. With surgeons nowadays the scar should be barely noticable. A healthy diet (no junk food, little or no meat) would be good no matter what. Tom Sajjad Ansari wrote: Wife will be going for complete Thyroidectomy in about a month for papillary type cancer. Guest guest
RAI is no guarantee. Trust me I know. I had it 3 times and it never touched it (105 mCi's, 150 mCi's and 250 mCi's). Some are what they call " iodine resistant " . Each time they hit you with RAI it does more and more damage to the body. I healed from thyroid cancer naturally with the high dose Iodine protocol. www.optimox.com Iodine is effective in inducing apoptosis of abnormal cells. Buist, ND [ ] Re: Life after Thyroidectomy ??
