Guest guest
While many on this list are tuned into the pitfalls of Conventional Medicine, many are new members and just starting their journey and need help from sources they are more familiar with, honest and open Medical Professionals. Today I was listening to a radio program which had a discussion about the Over diagnosis of the general population and the problems it causes. Because the discussion brought up Prostate Cancer, it is a fitting topic and the doctors on the show were specific about the over diagnosis of prostate conditions resulting in hundreds of thousand, perhaps millions, of men undergoing treatments and protocols for a condition that would never kill them. Of course there are prostate cancers that do result in death but the obvious point was about over diagnosis in general from Prostate to Hypertension. They discussed how by simply ‘changing’ the numbers when monitoring Blood Pressure they have created millions of new patients and hundreds of millions of dollars in fees with billons going to pharmaceutical houses. For those interested, perhaps the book is available at their local library. Joe C. Overdiagnosed: Making People Sick in the Pursuit of Health Authors: Dr. H. Gilbert Welch, Dr. M. Schwartz, and Dr. Woloshin " This brilliantly researched, well-argued, and clearly written book will help us avoid the unnecessary tests, drugs, surgeries, and anxiety that are the inevitable outcome of our epidemic of overdiagnosis. We've all been made to believe that it is always in people's best interest to try to detect health problems as early as possible. Dr. Welch explains, with gripping examples and ample evidence, how those who have been overdiagnosed cannot benefit from treatment; they can only be harmed. I hope this book will trigger a paradigm shift in the medical establishment's thinking. Welcome evidence that more testing and treatment is not always better. " — Love, MD, author of Dr. Love's Breast Book
