Guest guest
Hi, I've just had a mineral hair analysis and came back with a vey high copper reading. Can anybody recommend best thing to do for this. I'm having trouble sleeping and think this may be the reason. Thanking you all AB
Guest guest
Hello rockjacks50, Do you work in a profession where you might be exposed to copper? Are you on any medications? Do you have a Keiser-Fleischer ring in the eye? (Google this last one to see what it looks like.) Do you have a zinc deficiency? Guest guest
Why would a zinc deficiency cause an increase in copper Mike? ~Amber -- Re: [ ] High copper levels Hello rockjacks50, Do you work in a profession where you might be exposed to copper? Guest guest
Not Mike here, but zinc and copper have to exist in balance and are antagonistic, i.e. too much copper can suppress zinc, AND taking a lot of zinc can suppress too high a copper level. Many are low in zinc. BUT I'm not that knowledgeable about hair analysis so someone who knows about that subject should interpret what a high hair copper means because sometimes it means the opposite of what you would think. Confused? Jp Amber wrote: Why would a zinc deficiency cause an increase in copper Mike? ------------- Hello rockjacks50, Do you work in a profession where you might be exposed to copper? Guest guest
-Thanks for your reply. No I am not exposed to copper at work. I do seem to have an orangy coloured ring around the pupil. My zinc was in the acceptable range but I think I might supplement for a while and see what happens? -- In , Mike Golden <goldenmike@...> wrote: > > Hello rockjacks50, > > Do you work in a profession where you might be exposed to copper? > Are you on any medications? Guest guest
High copper levels are quite common, it is usually related to the thyroid gland. EDTA chelation for sure will lower your copper levels. I would take the oral compound first for at least 3 months then IV if that doesn't work. http://www.custommedicine.com.au/blog/2007/03/30/copper-toxicity/
Guest guest
600 mg alpha lipoic acid 3x/day 600 mg NAC 3-4 times a day These are the main nutrients that will chelate this. Check your water. Usually that is the way we get this. Guest guest
True, sometimes you have the zinc but it is bio-unavailable. It just depends on the total lab interpretation. Which lab are we talking about? There are only two labs in the US that do not wash the hair. These are the most reliable for results. Johanne From: jhprice@... Guest guest
-Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure of the lab that was used, I believe it is in Germany. Guest guest
--- Thanks for your reply. I do have a multi nodular goitre which was caused by radioactive iodine treatment for eye melanoma in 1997, though thyroid function tests are normal but basal temp is low. Not sure whether to take iodine or not? Guest guest
Thanks for the explanation. Since cancer patients really need to suppress copper, adding a little extra zinc sounds good to me. My doc won't give me that antiangiogenic copper supressing drug (yet). ~Amber -- RE: [ ] High copper levels Not Mike here, but zinc and copper have to exist in balance and are antagonistic, i.e. too much copper can suppress zinc, AND taking a lot of zinc can suppress too high a copper level. It showed that my iodine was low and I will be supplementing with iodoral (I think I got that right). You may want to look into ordering the test. It cost me $80. ar -- Arlyn Grant arlynsg@...
