Is beta 1, 3d glucan the best immune booster around? Are there better

ones?

I'm taking about $4.00 worth a day and have to question the cost of

the supplement. Is it worth it? Or could the money be spent on more

effective supplements?

What about DMG? I've seen no discussion of DMG on this board. Are

people aware of it?

So, I see there's a huge difference in dose between this BG and the one Bill

recommends ... Transfer Point. They recommend 500mg per 50 pounds of

body weight.

What gives with that dose difference, does anyone know?

The receptor size for beta glucan is very small which makes it very difficult

for the body to absorb. If Beta Glucan is micronized it becomes almost totally

absorbable so smaller amounts will yield 200 to 300 times more usuable product.

I have huge respect for the scientists at Vitamin Research Products

(VRP) in Nevada. They go with 500 mg doses per 50 lbs. I don't trust

the smaller doses -- seems like a gargantuan rip-off to me. I'd have

to see the proof first, thank you.

In this case a lot is not better. Beta Glucan is a yeast. The micronized version

has a protein removed from it which makes it non allergenic and almost totally

absorbable.

The beta glucan from nsc24.com is the absolute best available today.

Not that I don't believe you, but what makes you so sure this particular product

is the " absolute best available today?' The former journalist in me begs the

question, " according to whom? " ;)

I gave this and other beta glucan to several people that I knew after they had

radiation treatments and they remarked that the nsc worked,  I;ve personally

taken many beta glucan products and this is the one that works from a scratchy

throat, a cut on the finger, to prevent bruising. It simply boost your own

immiune system. They will even give you a free sample if you call them.

I just don't get how 10 mg of something would be better than 500 mg

of the same stuff. Well, I understand the basic claim of

micronization of the beta glucan, but so what? Does this

micronization really work or is it useless? Am I paying 50x for the

former product versus the latter for no good reason?

Hello jrrjim,

Food for thought:

FDA has given (pure) beta glucan a G.R.A.S. rating. This means that no

toxicity has been displayed at any dosage.

A search of MEDLINE (National Library of Science) revealed eleven

pages of human studies of beta glucan given orally

and effective against several types of diseases, including cancer.

(All were large milligram doses, averaging 3000 mg).

Not one single human study revealed a 3, 5, 7.5, 10, 20 or any other

micro-dose of beta glucan to be of any effect for humans.

Numerous peer reviewed studies showed that in order to have a maximum

effect on an adult immune response, for serious medical conditions,

should take the equivalent of 25 mg per kilogram of body weight.

This is approximately 500 mg. per 50 lbs of body weight (take your

body weight and add a zero to get the recommended milligrams per

day for a serious health condition).

If the beta glucan is not micronized it is almost totally useless to the human

body. The molecules are to big and must be reduced for the body to absorb them.

Go to the site nsc24.com and read what Jordan says as he invented the

process. Call the number on the website and get a free sample. This is the only

beta glucan that I've noticed a positive result. Most studies on beta glucan use

this form.
