Guest guest
Has anyone ever checked their insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) levels in a blood test?
Guest guest
yes I did. it was 66 within a reference band of 57-172 ng/ml. I believe it doesn't tell you much out of context > > Has anyone ever checked their insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) levels in a blood test? >
Guest guest
Yes, perhaps it is best considered in comparison to IGFBP-3, the binding protein, as a ratio of IGFBP-3 to IGF-1. High levels of IGFBP-3 are considered good, since it binds to IGF-1 making it less available to cancer cells. " IGF-1 is one of the most potent natural activators of the AKT signaling pathway, a stimulator of cell growth and proliferation, and a potent inhibitor of programmed cell death. " From Wikipedia. The old and cheap diabetes drug Metformin has been shown to effectively decrease IGF-1 while at the same time elevate levels of the binding protein, IGFBP-3. Metformin also acts on insulin and blood sugar levels and some clinical trials have shown survival benefit to patients using it. > > > > Has anyone ever checked their insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) levels in a blood test?
