On CTV ,Canada,last night,this information.Hope it turns out well and

they don't bury it by saying " more tests need to be done "

Hello summitflyer2003,

This was in the media last year at which time they were awaitng the

summer to begin trials. Apparently there is a seasonal aspect to the

activity of the immune cells. I think it is probably related to

vitamin D status in the donor. (My opinion). The technology to

seperate the granulocytes for use is well established, so no

breakthroughs are needed. It takes about 20 donors to get enough of

the granulocytes to treat one person. Some people were recently

cured of cancers by having their own best white cells harvested,

cloned and reintroduced. It worked, but they say the snag is the

cloning step which would add tremendous expense. In this donor

situation I suspect they will find that it works but that they will

want to do it via cloning. Don't expect the treatment to be

available any time soon because of this.
