Guest guest
Came across this message by looking for graviola... Reading this I am reminded of a cure for fever/colds told to me by an old man in India who was working as a labourer I have sadly forgotten the quantities and some of the ingredients: cinnamon clove black pepper corns ginger ( I forget if it is the dried one or fresh) roughly a tsp of each is boiled in 2 cups of water until it comes to one cup-make Indian tea ( with milk and sugar) ( maybe this is just to make it palatable) Make sure you take a leak , etc before drinking this for after that you must get into bed and wrap yourself warmly to sweat it out. I have seen it work I am fan of these spices-any one of them -one small bit in a cup of hot water cures a whole lot of things Infected throat: either a glass of milk boiled with 1 tsp turmeric or 3 cloves in a glass of hot water with honey and lemon juice Oh I can go on because it is so wonderful how they cure... Partially freeze pour off liquid then freeze again till you have about 10 ounces. I take about 1 once daily. Here is where to get the herbs at the best price for good quality. graviola and chaparral: get two pounds each and order from herbalcom.com they cost $10 and $6 a pound last time i ordered and shipping is (with postal changes) about $7 per order. get 2 pounds of neem at mountain rose herbal for about $10 a pound. shipping will probably cost about $10, it varies. the last thing you need is a pound of andrographis. this will cost about $17 pounds from 1stchinese herbs. shipping may be $9. if you spend $40 (amount changes with postage changes) shipping is free. so check if you need anything else and get it there. Guest guest
The husband of a Burmese friend of mine used to ask his wife for Pepper Water when he was not well. I never looked up the recipe until now. There are various ones - Cayenne pepper, no more than 1/8 tsp in hot water - keep taking until improvement sets in. Black pepper (multiple uses/recipes) for colds & fever black pepper and hot water. Add honey if you need to make it more palatable. http://www.goherbalremedies.com/blog/herbal-remedies-by-black-pepper/ For malaria, black pepper and neem in hot water. By the way, my graviola only just arrived the other day; my supplier apparently had some computer problems. It was a long wait with a couple of phone calls on the way. Guest guest
That is so interesting-as in SOuth India we also use what we call pepper water -rasam -for colds! It is made with dal (arhar)( lentils -cooked to a mush ). one may then add either tamarind pulp water or tomato or both or just lemon /lime juice... Onions are also added as well as many other spices such as coriander powder and chilli powder, Those who are allowed may add garlic ... It is tempered with mustard seeds among other things and garnished with curry leanves or cilantro... We can just drink it like soup or eat it with hot soft rice-it is if not anything our comfort food for colds! I have two things I want to photograph-one is a creeper which is supposed to help with setting broken bones and the other is a dried leaf which is for colds-but I do not know what they are... There are so many things-I was brought up a bit modern sadly but my husband tells me so many stories of his youth where leafs and bark and such were mainly used for illnesses-even when I married him and visited my in-laws his aunts etc would be brewing " kashayams " ( teas) each one having a specific one for their ailment. I am yet to find graviola in the stores... Gita The husband of a Burmese friend of mine used to ask his wife for Pepper Water when he was not well. I never looked up the recipe until now.
