Ct scan should be run every year due to heavy x-ray. 9 in 4 years are a

lot. I will ask your doctor to get you blood test for cancer markers: e.g.

AMAS, CEA, etc.first before doing any Ct scans.

Hello everyone and Happy New Year,

I am going for my four and a half year check up and the Oncologists wants

me to get a Ct Scan. This will be my ninth Ct Scan in four and one half

years. My questions is this; The doctor should be able to read my cancer

markers instead of a CT scan correct?

I understand that Ct scans are about 400 times more radiation than a Chest

X-ray and could complicate matters down the road.

Other than that I have been clear for four and a half years and I am

blessed for that.

Any suggestions?

I will go back to work at the Post Office on Saturday. I will see how I do when I start lifting again. I have asked to just do Saturday and afternoons for awhile that way I will only be lifting tubs of mail on Saturday. Fortunately it is a very slow post office once the mail is put in the boxes so I can sit most of the day. And to your second question, I can't get anyone to evaluate me. I guess when I go back to the pain doc in January he might check things out further but he will only offer more injections.

I did take a quick look at your films and do not seen any gross fracture or loosening. I will be able to review it with Dr. Hey in further detail and get back to you. Again, in the meantime, there is no reason to stay out of work. > > You will be hearing from me shortly. Well I guess I am on my own for diagnosing my hip. I have asked Brittany to send me a script for PT. I feel my favorite guy can give me better direction than anyone else. At least I can get some great massage and modalities while we try to figure it out!

I went back to the post office Saturday morning. My back started to ache and I was only there 2 hours. I really think I have let myself get very weak and need to get back into shape. I'm scheduled for enough full days this month that I will find out if it's working.

Re: CT scan

Good Afternoon, Rarely the hardware can cause muscular pain. We do try to treat it as conservatively as possible, and I belive that you are on the right track in working on increasing your flexibility and strengthening. Only if the pain is not able to be controlled and can be localized to a specific area of the hardware would we consider doing a partial hardware removal. I would recommend your current therapies of stretchign and exercise, and if the pain does not improve, please call to make an appointment with Dr. Hey to discuss your options. I hope you are feeling better soon.
