Guest guest
Mowoman-Barb, Point well taken. Yes I am sure that there was " some " good advice in the book, I just felt the damage of the mis-information was too much to bear, especially when trying to help " newbies " who sometimes already have many misconceptions. This is why I like to post agreement with others who post good information, even if only to say " I agree " , or " good post " , I believe it helps " newbies " to know, and reinforce that this is something good to remember. And also why I jump on mis-information, All for the ultimate goal of truth and knowledge and a healthful KT experience for all. Luv, Sprite " When you drink the water, remember the spring. Guest guest
I appreciate your taking the time to give me good and accurate information. It certainly puts my mind at ease knowing that this acetone problem is very rare. I will advise my family and friends that it is okay to bottle KT and keep it longer than 3 days. It is also good to know of the rare possibilities and keep it in mind just in case. Thanks everyone for your help. > Mowoman-Barb, > Point well taken. If anyone thinks differant ? Thats what i was told. ct I just had a batch come out that smelled of acetone(nail polish remover). After I got my finished product I was putting it in 2 liter Pepsi bottles for a week or two to build up carbonation. Never had any trouble before this, always came out great. When I opened up the bottle it didn't " phsst " as usual. Smelled it and WOW was it strong. What causes this? Is it a reaction with the plastic? Can this be used at all (not to drink, to make new batches) or should it be all poured out? I went ahead and made a new batch with a scoby and some of this (acetone) brew, will it adulterate the new brew? I've been brewing for 6-8 years and this is the first time this has happened.Barb

Acetic acid is vinegar, acetone is an industrial solvent, very different. There is nothing wrong with ingesting vinegar. Guest guest
Got mine at Lowes. Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T [ ] acetone Greetings, I am wondering where everyone that does the Navarro Test is getting their acetone. It doesn't seem to be available here. -- Bright Blessings, Garth & Kim
Guest guest
You can buy pure acetone at any hardware store or even beauty supply stores. (It's used as a solvent for some homeowner or contractor projects and to remove fingernail polish and artificial nails.)
