Guest guest
Have they given your mom leukine shots to raise the blood levels? When I went through chemo, my blood levels droped below 100. It should be 1000. I had to go into isolation in the hospital to avoid infections and I got daily shots of leukine to raise my blood levels up to normal. It's a very common problem with chemo. The blood in the urine could be a UTI which is also common with chemo patients because of not having much of an immune system. Prior to her chemo her blood test revealed that her red/white blood count, hemoglobin and HCT were low. Today unfortunately she has begun peeing blood. That can't be a good sign. We will be calling her oncologist first thing in the morning and probably have to go in to the hospital. Her nurses act as if her blood levels are nothing to worry about. Can anyone please give me any advice. We do not want her to become anemic and then require a blood transfusion, and as far as the blood in her urine... I don't know what to think. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Danica ------------------------------------
Guest guest
Danica: During chemo my wife took amazing wheat grass, her white and HRT never dipped. Her red count did get low but we were able to control this too with a slow release FE iron supp. Juice twice per day and add a scoop of the wheat grass powder to the juice and mix. Use a home made juice with out sugar added. Another tip is to drink a glass of the Naked brand of the Green Machine daily in addition, this worked well for those who tried it. Guest guest
Vic, How many ounces was your wife taking of the wheatgrass? I was also growing and juicing wheatgrass during chemo and my blood levels dropped to a dangerous level, however, it sounds like your wife took a lot more then what I was taking. I juiced 4 ounces a day in the morning only. Maybe the key is twice a day to keep it working ongoing? Guest guest
Robin: The amazing wheat grass is made a special way and contains all the enzymes. Juicing removes the pulp which is something that should remain. Two scoops of the wheat grass powder per day. The powder comes with a scoop. We tried the juice but do not think it worked very well. Two other things that helpful are unpasteurized colostrum and spirulina in addition to the wheat grass. Perhaps the home grown wheat grass would work better if made in a blender to retain all of the nutrients. The red count would be dependent of the amount of iron intake, we used lots of spinach for the red count plus the slow release FE. Once the hemoglobin returns to a safe level, but still low, we stopped the iron as it feeds cancer and let it come up the rest of way by itself. It can take 9 months to a year for the red count to return back to normal. We allowed the chemo to work for one week, then detoxed with lots of chlorella, infrared saunas, and a huge amount of powerful probiotics. We did this after each chemo treatment. The chemo kills all the good bacteria in the intestine and this must be replaced to get the intestines working properly. It would take 3 or 4 days after a chemo treatment before the intestines would began to work again some what. Our alternate doctor gave us a plan to follow during chemo, a week after, and another plan when the chemo was finished. Part of this plan was lots of a special vit C which would direct the chemo to the cancer and make it more effective and cut back on the side effects. 5,000 mgs of the special vit C from Pergue called potent c guard tabules. Cancer does not know the difference between sugar or vitamin C, and the chemo will be taken to the cancer with vitamin C as if it were sugar. We had a bit of a laugh, the conventional doctor told my wife, " boy you have good genes your white count never went low " , yeah right, it was the wheat grass and other things we were doing.
