Hi Jan,

In answer to your question, I'm afraid you are right to be concerned. My

mother has had kidney cancer now for 3 years. She had her right kidney

removed 2 years ago but it had already spread to other areas. She has

the same problem with her throat. Constantly clearing it, although she

doesn't sound particularly hoarse.

As for your question about the x-rays. This would be to check her lungs

for tumours. Kidney cancer tends to spread there. My mum has some small

tumours in her lungs also.

Hope this helps.

the last 6 or 8 months, that she clears her throat several times during

the conversation. I've asked her if she has a cold and she says no. She

lives several states away from me and we haven't gotten together in

several years but talk on the phone monthly.

hoarse, but the fact that she needs to clear her throat so often

concerns me.
