Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've been reading the messages but rarely post, but I want to ask a couple questions now. My sister had kidney cancer about five years ago. The doctors removed one kidney. She's been ok since then. But the doctor told her at that time that she has a 50% chance of the cancer returning within 5 years. I have two questions that I hope someone can answer. Her doctor monitors her condition by giving her a chest X-ray every year. Does this make sense? Is this the best way to see if any results from kidney cancer are occurring? Secondly, I've noticed whenever my sister and I talk on the phone in the last 6 or 8 months, that she clears her throat several times during the conversation. I've asked her if she has a cold and she says no. She lives several states away from me and we haven't gotten together in several years but talk on the phone monthly. Someone told me a long time ago that a hoarse sounding voice is a sign of cancer. I don't know if this is true and her voice isn't exactly hoarse, but the fact that she needs to clear her throat so often concerns me. Could anyone help to answer my concerns? I appreciate this group and all the information you offer. Jan
