Guest guest
Just wondering (since I have the powder) do you simmer this or put it in capsules? Thanks BJ [sPAM] Re: [ ] Pau d'arco tea Advice--Powder? Last week recommended the powder and it makes sense because, I think, extracting what is needed out of the bark has to be a bit harder. Pacific Botanicals provides both the Powdered and Shredded forms and at no different cost. I bought the shredded the previous time but am now using my coffee grinder to break it down into powder. Guest guest
The 'usual instructions are to place it in a stainless-steel pot and slow-boil it for 25-30 minutes and then strain it. Some instructions say to " use 3/4 tablespoon to one quart of distilled or filtered water (3/4 cup per gallon) and use a glass or stainless pot of cold water. Low boil for at least 20 minutes and you may add water to bring it up to the starting amount. You can make it stronger if you have a health problem. " Is this the 'expert' advice? I have no idea but it is one that came with the Pau d' Arco one time that I got it. This time I decided to make it stronger and went 2 cups of Pau d' Arco to the gallon of water. Oh yes, it says to use a piece of linen, tea strainer or coffee press device to get the grinds out. I use a fine tea-strainer and if necessary, decanter it if grinds find their way into the final batch. Joe C.
