Can you tell me why it says that Pau D' Arco can only be used externally? I've

been taking Pau D' Arco inwardly for several weeks now and have used it before

for longer periods of time. Should I be drinking this, can it harm me? I'm using

Pacific Botanicals has no choice but to state what they did because 'studies',

done isolating one of the main constituents did find it toxic so they lumped it

all into " Pau d' Arco can be toxic " . The more important part of that response

starts with " Many people use this herb internally safely and with good results " .

I am using it right now and have a number of times.

This information comes from the “Botanical Safety Handbook†which was

comprised by Roy Upton and Hobbs among a couple others. Pau d’arco

has hydroquinone which is a product that can be toxic. Please check the

information online for yourself. Taken responsibly with special attention to how

your body reacts is the best way to use this herb. Many people use this herb

internally safely and with good results. We use this book only as a caution to

our customers who may not understand the constituents or toxic side effects of

some herbs.
