Re: How do I measure a gram?

1 gram is 0.03527 ounce, or very very little.

A new USA nickel weights exactly 5.00 grams, so you could do a nickel's

weight of cesium chloride and separate that by five for one gram. A

glass mirror is a good surface to separate powder on, using a razor

blade or knife; you could make five separate tiny piles divided from the

nickel-weight of cesium chloride. A new USA penny is 2.50 grams.

I see a supplier for cesium chloride selling 100 grams for $36 at

http://cesium-chloride.com/

And, if you're going to be doing this for awhile,

http://www.saveonscales.com/digital_gram_table_top_bench_scales.html

has low-cost gram scales, such as the Proscale for $24, with resolution

to 0.05 gram.

Hope this helps,

Dave

The pre-mix is on order. I only need to mix up enuf for a day or

two.

I don't have a scale..so don't really know the minimum equipment I

need to meaure out the grams?

Guess I could do 20 grams to 20 T. of water...

is there a gram scoop I could get?

If you have a hobby shop near you, they might be able to help you out with an

inexpensive scale, as found in chemistry sets.

Well, not really, unless by coincidence. A gram is a measure of weight,

and scoops are measures of volume. Apples and oranges.

Ask around, maybe you can find someone near you (pharmacist maybe, or

school chemistry lab?) who could measure out a gram for you. or several

one gram measures, and put them into little envelopes..

I looked at some of my powdered supplements. A gram of Vit C is about

1/4 teaspoon. For another one, 1/4 tsp. is 700 mg. (1000 mg = 1 gram)

It would depend on the density of the powder. Perhaps you could

compare it somehow to Vit. C powder and see if you think the same

amount would weigh the same. It might also depend on if it had fillers

or was a pure substance without fillers.

IF YOU HAVE A BULK HERB SHOP NEAR YOU THEY WILL PROBABLY ALLOW

YOU TO MEASURE A GRAM OF YOUR SUBSTANCE AND THEN YOU CAN TAKE

IT HOME AND FIND SOMETHING CLOSE TO IT. OTHERWISE, A TOBACCO

SHOP THAT SELLS WATER PIPES WILL HAVE AN INEXPENSIVE SCALE

FOR YOU TO PURCHASE. GOOD LUCK.
