Guest guest
Debbie you bring the conversation to a more pointed place. Now dealing with LDL is a lot different from total Cholesterol issues. I do not trust their studies because Mike's information about Cancer studies being 'funded' by interested parties most likely applies to every facet of medicine and health. I have become so suspicious of these bandits that I look at the Statin industry and just know they are buying their way into our hearts............no pun intended. We have some of our favorite physicians prescribing certain medications based upon one thing.................they are rewarded for doing so. In fact the prescription business is so well controlled 'they' know if a physician is prescribing what they expect him to prescribe. If he/she doesn't push their product you can bet your sweet life that doc will be called and asked why. By lowering the 'desired' levels they multiply their profit margin just as 'screening' for disease increased profit margins. It is estimated that general screening for high PSA levels increases the average Urologists income more than $25,000. It is almost universally agreed that the PSA test is not as beneficial as once thought but my Uro still wants that test done on everyone that he sees. It's business.........BIG BUSINESS! Joe C. Guest guest
The pushing of statin drugs reminds me of the pushing of polyunsaturated (but hydrogenated) fats years ago as the way to protect against heart disease. I suspect the whole statin thing will turn out at least as badly as that did. Mike JCastron1 wrote: > > > Debbie you bring the conversation to a more pointed place.
