Guest guest
Also when getting surgery google cell saver or cell salvage. Â That is a process like a dialysis machine that takes your own blood while in surgery , cleaning it and putting it right back in. In many cases you will not need anyones elses blood , even in a difficult surgery. As in many new and progressive things you may have to do your research and then educate your doctor. Many hospitals have cell salvage machines but not all Doctors are aware of them or their usage. There are now many bloodless hospitals in the US. A hospital will make about $10k on a major surgery on blood alone, so they are not often quick to switch over. Â To me it is a no brainer but if your hospital doesn't have one and can't get one then you could look into another hospital. Without a blood transfusion, you will heal faster and better. Blood is an organ and usually your body will try to reject it. So using your own will help you heal faster and better and less trauma.
