Guest guest
Background: My father (82) has had CLL for about 12 yrs. Started with minor problems about 3 yrs ago but steady escalating. By January 2009 his white cell count was over 400. In Aug 2008 came down with pneumonia, had 2nd bout in Sep. Since then his health has rapidly declined. Has been vegetarian since late teens. Obtained LDN for him in July 2008 and has been taking ever since. Been trying anti-oxidants, juicing, Has had to have blood transfusion (May 5th). Will not accept chemo. Very health conscious. Until his pneumonia in Aug 2008 was going to gym 3-4 times a week and could walk a LOT. Since then has not regained his strength. Has been using " black salve " for about 4 months, seems to have reduced some of his tumours, but not all. Current Status: Has no energy or strength, especially in legs. Has about 2 dozen tumours (neck, under arms, groin and abdomen). The ones in his abdomen are causing him much trouble, they press on other organs and cause him much discomfort and pain as a result, although the tumours themselves don't give him pain. He has 3 in particular which are quite large. Sleeps a lot. Has terrible mood swings. He is eating well and drinking plenty of fluids. Has water retention in his lower legs/feet. With everything I've been trying on him, I've managed to bring down his white cell count to about 250 so far. However, his hemoglobin levels are very low, although they have improved since the blood transfusion. Had had x-rays and ultrasound that show nothing unusual. His lungs are clear although there is a comment that there seems to be some linear scarring in the right lung base. Just had his heart checked this week and cardiologist sees no problems. His oxygen levels have been at 95% or above. Questions: 1. Have any of you had any success in getting rid of these tumours or reducing their size? Would appreciate your input and comments on this. Would like to reduce the tumours in his abdomen especially. 2. Do any of you have any suggestions for gaining energy/strength, especially in the legs? 3. Have any of you had any success in bringing up hemoglobin levels? 4. Have any of you had any success in getting rid of water retention? I realize at 82 it may be difficult to treat, but until last August, he was in great condition. He looked and acted 20 yrs younger and my mother (81) is the same. They both live with me, I'm their only child. Would like to ensure they have a good quality of life in their waning years. I would appreciate whatever input, comments, advice, etc. any of you who have gone, or know someone who has gone through these problems. Thanks in advance for your time.
