Guest guest
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ok here is the deal...had an u/s done a week ago...i am currently 14wks pg and have been extrememly sick this time...and the pain was just too much so finally i went in and they ran some tests because they thought it was my Gallbladder... now what i do not understand is..they did not see gallstones...but rather he said what they found was polyps??...being formed from cholersterol deposits?? here is where it gets even better...as it turns out they first found this on 12-14-2000...no one ever told me!!...i was impressed though that this Doc. took the time to read my file which by now is a good 3 inches thick!!...anyway granted there was TONS going on that day and that is why this took a back burner.. well what i am wondering since this has been there for 2yrs and is no bigger he said...and all my blood work came back fine...why do they want to remove my Gallbladder... personally i want to try something else....dh is not crazy about the idea though....my surgery is scheduled for Nov 15th and i would really rather not do this... please can anyone here help me!!!... (sorry for the typos..i am so tired) di >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Di; One of the reasons they would want to take out the gallbladder in your case is because polyps would tend to precursor cancer. http://www.ivillagehealth.com/experts/digestive/qas/0,11816,416249_128707-2,00.h\ tml However, mnagement would counsist of learning how to deal with these and then continue on that path. But there are some criteria to be considered before a determination of what means of management should be considered. One is just how large the polyp is and how fast it has grown and its potential as to being cancerous. http://www.sma.org/smj/97may2.htm Since your polyp was known two years ago it would now be a question as to just how much it has grown or the size it is now, but you've already stated that this has not grown in the last two years. However, the bad part to all of this is that there is no good news as to being able to reduce a polyp's size by diet. http://www.research.buffalo.edu/quarterly/vol10/num03/f1.shtml Dale
Guest guest
It's not mentioned in your letter if the polyps are remaining the same size as in 2000. If they are, then the pain that you are feeling may be due to the growing uterus pressing on the polyps which in turn press on something else. On the other hand, if they are growing, it may be necessary to get them removed. Perhaps you could ask your doctor why nothing was done re: polyps when they were first discovered and what has changed that warrents them to now be removed. Guest guest
--- thank you for your help...actually the reason nothing was done before is the day the found them was the same day i was being airlifted to another hospital for fear of preterm labor... as it turned out i was in the other hospital for 2mths!!..the babies did a great job of staying in until 33wks!!....so i guess with all that was going on at that time it just sort of took a " back seat " to the other bigger issue at hand.. i have talked with the surgeon more and he says that the reason they want to remove the gallbladder is because i have just so many symptoms that he thinks it is just not working properly anyway... i have had to go in for IV fluids from the constant nausia/throwing up and the episodes of pain that i have are so severe that my husband has to help me out of bed at times because i can not move... i was so hoping that i could do something that would help to remove or reduce them naturally...but so far all that i have read says that really is not the case with polyps.. i did have a really bad episode in May..so i know it is not just from being pg again..i mean i know that the pgncy makes it worse but even without being pg the pain is bad.. thank you all so much for your help ... i am just so scared but i guess this is the right thing to do...
