Boy, are you in trouble now, Dear! I'm hooked! =: D What a

wonderful journey, and I'm really glad to be along for the ride....

Maybe one day I'll be able to do my own blog about being in perfume

school in France! (Like if I win the lottery <G>)

Thanks so much for getting this address posted. It's SO worthwhile!

Contemporary Research on Triphala

Recent medical research conducted by several leading academic institutions in

India such as the _Bhabha Atomic Research Centre_

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhabha_Atomic_Research_Centre) and _Jawaharlal

Nehru University_

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jawaharlal_Nehru_University) has revealed that

Triphala has a significant medicinal value as a potential detoxifying and

anti-Cancer agent._[2]_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triphala#_note-indolink)

In a study entitled ‘Potential of traditional Ayurvedic formulation,

Triphala, as a novel anticancer drug’ published in the January 2006 issue of

Cancer

Letters, scientists at the Radiation Biology and Health Sciences Division,

_Bhabha Atomic Research Centre_

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhabha_Atomic_Research_Centre) , found that

Triphala had the ability to induce _cytotoxicity_

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytotoxicity) (cell death) in tumor cells but

spared the normal cells._[2]_

Similarly, a December 2005 report in the Journal of Experimental and Clinical

Cancer Research from the Radiation and Cancer Biology Laboratory at

_Jawaharlal Nehru University_

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jawaharlal_Nehru_University) noted that Triphala

was effective in reducing tumor incidences and

increasing the antioxidant status of animals. constituents.â€_[2]_

Another report from the Department of Botanical Sciences, _Guru Nanak Dev

University_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guru_Nanak_Dev_University) ,

_Amritsar_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amritsar) , found that " Triphala "

showed a

significant cytotoxic effect on cancer cell-lines and the effect was similar on

all cancer cell lines used in this study.†The results, reported in the

Journal of Ethnopharmacology in February 2005, reveal that the results may be

due

to the action of _gallic acid_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallic_acid) -a

major _polyphenol_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyphenol) observed in

" Triphala " . The same authors had previously reported that Triphala “had

promising antimutagenic/anticarcinogenic potential.â€
