Hello,

I've been lurking a bit since joining this list a few days ago, so

thought I'd jump in with a short intro and questions. I am a 42 yr old

sahm of 5. We homeschool our kids (ages 3 to 17) here in Florida. I

began having gallbladder problems a few months ago and received the

common " let's operate " answer when the ultrasound showed many small and

some very large stones. But I'm a bit of a naturalist-if God put it

there, it must have a purpose-and I've been researching and am more

convinced than ever that, unless absolutely necessary, I will not have

it removed.

I'm a vegetarian (for about 15 years) and am overweight (by quite a

bit). The problems began when I tried (again!) to lose weight and was

actually doing quite well. Since, I've discovered that that could have

helped trigger the problem. I also am hypothyroid (not on meds yet,

but might go to that if I don't find natural help for it) which only

adds to the weight problem.

I'm still trying to understand the gallbladder issues and get it under

control. I understand that eating earlier in the day is important (I've

never been a breakfast eater but am trying to become one and it does

help), but can't seem to get ahead of all of the possible triggers. I

haven't had a true attack in a few weeks, but still have the " rush to

the bathroom " after eating (usually at least one meal a day, often more)

and the acid reflux-sour stomach issues frequently (daily). The doctor

gave me samples of " prevacid " which do help, but I hate to medicate if I

can find more natural means. I've consulted a natural MD and was given

quite a bit of info, but not all seems to hold true. For instance, I do

find that sometimes a small amount of coke actually helps settle my

stomach ( he said no soda). One thing that he and another homeopath

seem to agree on is that I'm not a good candidate for flushing at this

point, due to the size of stones and good possibility one will be lodged

and force emergency surgery. They did suggest low calcium foods to help

reduce stones, but now I find that not all stones are calcium stones (I

do enjoy calcium rich diet-some cheese and milk, but more broccoli, soy,

etc).

Any thoughts and hints would be very much appreciated-as well as helpful

websites to check out!

Thanks!!

Diane,

I understand and can relate. I was having gallbladder

attacks and was overweight, too (hypothyroid as well)

and found out that my diet was causing the gallbladder

problems which, in turn, were causing the hypothyroid.

I went to a Chiropractic Doctor when I was in

Clearwater, FL, who tested me and told me which foods

to stay away from. As soon as I altered my diet, the

pounds started falling off. It was amazing! I'd tried

losing weight for years, and Dr. Gatza found the " why "

or the reason it never worked before.

I still had to address the gallbladder problem after

that, but I'm now back to the weight I was in college

and much healthier in general just by omitting certain

foods from my diet.

I was told to avoid all foods containing cocoa, diary

and wheat (including all foods containing modified food

starch, unless it was stated as corn)

Hi listI am a new member from Switzerland and I'd like to ask a few questions.Being sick with a lot of unpleasant symptoms (fatigue, sensitivity to odors, smoke, memory problems and a lot more) I'd like to make my apartment as free from toxins and molds as possible.-- Some of my old furniture and books come from antique and thrift stores, so I guess I have to get rid of them?

Yes, get rid of them. Your health is more important. It's hard.-- What about old oriental carpets (Kelims) I got from my parents? Better get rid of them? There is wooden floor underneath.

You can try to have them professionally dry cleaned a couple of times - National Allergy supply carries a spray and powder, also, that you scrub into a carpet (very carefully), let dry and vacuum up. Mold spores are nasty. Hard to remove from fabric. Best bet would be to (sorry) sell the carpets.-- Should I get a new mattress and new blankets for my bed? Some of them I already had when I was living in an apartment with mold in the sleeping room. :-( Or is it enough to wash them?

Yes, new mattress and blankets. Why feel sick and be uncertain if it is the blankets and mattress. Or, you can try to wash and wash them. However, only bleach really kills mold and that will also kill your mattress and blankets.-- Can I have plants and cut flowers in my living room? Or better not?

Molds are in soil and if you are sensitive, then don't have them indoors. Or just keep them out of the bedroom.

-- Do I need air filters?

Yes, definitely. Especially if you have become extremely sensitized.-- What did others do to have a safe living area?

Removed all carpeting and padding in basement (professionally - it made me too sick to even go down there), had walls and ceilings torn out by remediation company to find out how far the mold extended. Saw that it is a problem that cannot be fixed, have put it on the market, trying to sell. In lawsuit. Still sick, though less so than when it all started. A hellish experience.I would be very glad if somebody could answer those questions. I am aware that there is a lot to learn and experiment for me, I also started reading the archives, but it will take me quite some time to get through them.Thank you in advance, and all the bestnneFAIR USE NOTICE:This site contains copyrighted material the use of which has not always been specifically authorized by the copyright owner.
