Purchased a bottle today at my local health food store. As I'm

living pretty well with liver/pancreatic cancer, I need to do all I can

to enhance my internal digestive climate. Below is an interesting

article on Triphala, courtesy Google. It's one of the most widely

used herbs in all of India. Read on:

" Triphala is composed of three herbs : Haritaki, Bibhitaki and

Amalaki. Amla helps to repair damaged cells on the intestinal wall.

Amla is the highest natural known source of vitamin C. It is said to

have 20 times the vitamin C content of an orange. Bibhitaki acts to

remove mucus build up where bacteria, yeast and parasites can

proliferate. The last is Haritaki which acts as a bowel tonifier

rather than a laxative. These three herbs work in consort to gently

promote internal cleansing of all conditions of stagnation and

excess while at the same time it improves digestion and

assimilation. Triphala has been found to be very effective for

helping to control weight gain, chronic constipation and as an

adjunctive treatment for many chronic degenerative conditions. In

India, Triphala is considered the greatest and most versatile of all

herbal formulations. For centuries, Triphala has been known and used

as a standard household health supplement. In many households,

Triphala is taken on a weekly basis by all family members to prevent

disease and maintain health. Triphala is safely taken for symptoms

that frequently accompany diseases such as tuberculosis, pneumonia

and AIDS. "

I would agree with your info on triphala. It is my favorite herb(s).

It balances all the doshas. I take a tsp. in a cup of water and soak

it for a few hours. I drink it before I go to bed. On can also drink

a cup of soaked triphala a half hour after supper. It also has anti

cancer properties.

Bill,

Is this Triphala expensive? I want to place an order of supplements and

herbs just as soon as I can. I want to find all I can to help me to heal of

bladder cancer. I thought I was getting better but have been passing blood in my

urine again.

Fine, GB,

Thanks for responding to my notation about a week ago on Triphala as

an adjunct to one's general health. It's nice to read of at least one

person who's into this acclaimed herb.

I'm just into one or two capsules a day and probably my body isn't

noticing anything this way. I'll have to read more on using it as you

do, having saved about 6 sites on the herb from Googling. Perhaps you

can save me some time and direct me to a specific article using it as

you use the herb.

I would suggest going to www.bazaarofindia.com to get it in bulk. I

think it is about $20.00 a pound. If you find a source in India from

an Ayurvedic pharmacy, it is cheaper if you order other herbs also.

Barbara,

The bottle of Triphala that I recently purchased was in the range of

$15.00 for 90 Vcaps @ 1,500 mg each with a recommendation of 3 per

day. What you really need to do is what I've done, i.e., go to Google and simply

type in Triphala and up comes many sites with loads of

information on Triphala. I happen to select 6 different ones which

I now have enclosed in ONE desk top icon and I'm studying all that's

being said there. Do you know how to establish a desk top icon? If

not, let me know.

Bill, I don't know how to do the desk top icon. I get around to my

groups and can look up things, I'm still learning!

I sure will be buying some of this.

Thanks,

Barbara
