Guest guest
I certainly empathize with everyone who says juicers, in general, are a pain to clean, and I empathize with the feelings that it makes no sense to spend the money on a juicer when it is too often going to sit and sit and sit after use because it is such an annoyance to clean. As the saying goes, " Been there, done that. " I would just like to say why it is that I feel the Green Power/Green Star juicer is different for me: With the GreenStar, the ONLY part that needs scrubbing is the little sieve piece that filters out the pulp. That takes me no more than 60 seconds to clean under running water using the brush that comes with th juicer. The rest of the parts, I just hold under running water, brushing just a little bit, and they are clean, REALLY, in no time. The only other part that can pose a problem is the face of the machine, where everything else screws in. That is recessed and can be a bit difficult, UNLESS you do what I do: I tilt the machine over the sink, fill a glass with water, and toss the water at the recessed area, which cleans THAT area in no time. Another tip: I do not juice many fruits in the GreenStar, for a couple of reasons: One is that juicing fruits, even with the soft fruit attachment, tends to be inefficient---leaves a lot of juice in the pulp. Another is that pineapple, grapes and other fibrous fruits tend to be harder to clean from the juicer. Fruits also, because of their sugar content, tend to be stickier than vegetables. So what I do, is I use my VitaMix to make fruit smoothies---I WANT that fiber with the fruit, anyway, for best assimilation of the fruit sugar, and also for intesinal cleansing and overall health---and I use the juicer for vegetables. Exception: apples---I add plenty of apple to the vegetable juice to make it more palatable. I thinkg there is a reason Green Star is called Green Star, and that is because it is more for juicing greens and vegetables than it is for juicing fruits. If you know you just don't have the patience to clean any juicer, then of course be sensible, and don't make yourself feel guilty and wasteful by letting the thing sit around after juicing---do something other than juicing---take algae and green powders and sprouts. But if you think you can handle the cleaning I have described for what I feel is the best juicer out there, try the Green Star. Also, if you were to get a Green Star and were to find you did not like it, the last time I checked, there was a hot market for used Green Stars on eBay. They were getting snapped up very quickly. eBay may be, incidentally, a very good place either to buy a very nice, used Green Star---they will last forever, so used is not really a problem---or to sell the Green Star you have sitting around and never use. Best wishes and best of health, Elliot
