Guest guest
Jim, Have you ever thought of doing a food allergy test to see if you can eat all these raw foods? I know for me, I am severely allergic to onions and garlic and that was in all my juices and foods. It literally burned my whole digestive tract. I have been doing this since 1993 and hurt myself eating all raw because of the food allergies. Once I identified the foods my body reacts to, I tweaked my meals and bingo, I started having energy etc. Just a thought! Johanne From: jrrjim Sent: Wednesday, February 18, 2009 10:01 AM Subject: [ ] " Easy -- just start eating all raw food " . Yea, right. The number of websites and people that have told me to just start eating all (or mostly) raw foods, as if it is as easy as flipping a light switch, is driving me crazy. This is HARD!!! (Psychologically). It tends to make me depressed, lack energy, and be ornery. I try eating salads every night, but even my salads have a fair amount of non-raw stuff in them -- cooked kidney beans, cooked garbanzo beans, pickled jalapenos, cooked shoestring cut beets... My salad dressing is good at least -- flaxseed oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic. And often there isn't a salad. I've been eating way too many Amy's soups -- vegetarian lentil and minestrone -- that I get from Costco. Also, Amy's organic vegetarian burritos and Amy's organic vegetarian chili. I think of yet another salad and I just say NO!!! I need something with more substance! It's COLD outside and I need something solid! Well, at least I've been avoiding the meat and sugar and refined flours and acidic foods. But this " all raw " stuff is really hard for me to do. When I slip up bad I usually make myself egg sandwiches with organic eggs, fake sausage patties (heaven forbid SOY PROTEIN) and even a thin slice of cheese, on whole grain bread. Not the best dinner for a cancer patient, that's for sure. I often prefer NO FOOD to raw food. Usually I eat nothing until noon, opting instead for a slew of supplements that all need to be taken on an empty stomach: 7:00 AM beta glucan, 8:00 AM ABM mushroom capsules, 9:00 AM parasite cleanse, 10:00 AM either IP6 OR artemisinin (part of a 12 hour protocol), then 12:00 noon Budwig mix with supplements for lunch. So I often get NO raw food until late afternoon or evening (except maybe fruits and nuts in the Budwig mix). The Budwig mix often lasts from noon to 6:00 PM -- huge caloric load there with the flaxseed oil, CC, and other foods added in, so no hunger for quite awhile. The Wigmore guy I know says I'm nuts. " Just eat all raw " he says, " and you won't need any of those supplements " . He told me this while munching down 8 varieties of desserts, sushi from a sushi platter, pumpkin bread, and potatoes au-grautin at a pot luck dinner. " Just eat all raw, dude! Munch munch munch munch " . He noticed me staring at his plate. " Oh -- this stuff. I'll fast next week and get back on the wagon " he said. Please forgive me! I'm type O blood and I think Kelley would rate me a " mixed " type that leans fairly heavily towards a heavy protein eater, while remaining somewhat mixed. Any suggestions for doing better on the raw food?
Guest guest
Hi Jim, I loved going raw! But it isn't easy for everyone. I recommend a slow transition diet for you. But that's actually what you are already doing. You don't need to eat a salad for your meal. Just eat a salad before your meal. Eat more raw, less cooked. And to amazingly truthful with you, I did great on the diet while in Florida. But when I moved to Vermont, it was nearly impossible for me to keep up with it due to the extreme cold. You can make yourself some mostly raw soups, though. Don't listen to your Wigmore friend. He is abusing the diet. And one more thing about diet. The only diets that will work are the ones you actually enjoy. Perhaps raw food isn't for you. Don't force yourself to eat a diet that feels unnatural. For me, it was so easy, so I knew I was ready for it. Best of luck. ar -- Arlyn Grant arlynsg@...

How are you with juicing? This could up your raw percentage by quite a bit if you could get a number of juices in a day. Perhaps you've tried this already: go to bookstore and browse through some raw food cookbooks to get some new ideas. How about fruit smoothies? freeze chosen fruit and then mix up in blender. green smoothies can be a great way of getting greens other than in salad. Mix greens (spinach, kale, lettuce etc) with fruit in blender. lots of 'recipes' on the web for these. They dont end up tasting like greens if you're sick of them. invest in a dehydrator (some small cheap models available to try it out) so you could make different crackers and patties, dried fruit and so on. This adds to variety. It isn't easy to change your diet. Do what you can. Good luck!
Guest guest
I hear you. I did 6 weeks of a carrot tumeric juice fast in nov. I allowed myself a meal of cooked veggies (beets cauliflower brussel sprouts with three bites of meat in the evening) Thankfully I am a savory type person not wanting sugar. When I was getting really bad wanting something to chew I allowed myself a bite or two. That is how I got through it.
