*****I haven't vomited after using it, but it does make me nauseated, and

makes my stomach/intestines very " growly " . I've HEARD that a strong

reaction like that means that it is killing your yeast, but who really

knows???

Not vomiting, no, but it did give me the worst die-off symptoms of

any of my antifungals (caprylic acid, oregano oil, garlic and

something mysterious from my homeopath), and it tends to give

me a mild but presistent migraine (without the nausea, bizarrely)

on the days I take it. It makes my stomach talk as well! Here's a

confession for you, though - I like the taste of it......

Sorry to hear about your car accident - hope you're feeling better

soon!!

<<

Raen,

First I like to say that from a non-tea drinker,

that I found Pau d'arco tea to be very nice

tasting. Prior to taking the tea I had been

doing other things, so that may have had an

impact on how I responded to it. My naturopath

never told me to take it, I did this on my own.

Sometimes I would get the feeling that I wanted

to gag, but it was a kind of a mild feeling.

Then one day out of the clear blue sky I had to

use the bathroom real bad. After going I felt

much better. This was the only time that this

happened while I was on the tea. At my next

visit to the doctor I mentioned what had occurred

and was told that my system probably was

" purging " . I am sure that I would have

experienced what you did had I not already been

on something prior to using this tea. My whole

efforts revolved around keeping the flow coming

out of the bottom and not the top. Just the

thought of the possibility of what could come out

totally horrified me.

Take care,

Niz

It works best when it has been boiled. I put a couple tea bags in my tea

pot, add a couple cups of water and put it on the stove and bring it to a

boil. Then I take it off and let it steep for 10-15 minutes. It doesn't seem

to be as effective if it isn't brought to a boil, like just pouring boiling

water over it. And it definitely wouldn't work as sun tea.

You should let it boil for 5 minutes - this is what I was told by a

herbalist.

Hi Candace,

Just skimming thru the posts and came across yours. I agree, the pau

d'arco tea has quite an interesting taste - kinda reminds me of tree

bark. I started steeping mine with a tea ball filled with Calendula

petals and it really made it taste much better. Much more than I

thought. The calendula took that barky, " dry " taste out of it and kinda

smoothed it out over all. You might want to give that a shot.

Calendula is also an antifungal. FYI - it has a reputation for

stimulating menstruation and has been shown to posses abortificient

properties.

I drank both Pau D'arco Tea and clove tea - the clove tea helps most

with die off.

You fluish symptoms are die-off symptoms.

For me, pau d'arco tea has always been a very mild tea with sometimes

subtle effects. Some of them weren't obvious until I stopped drinking it

for a while. But I have attributed lack of headaches, no cough or winter

cold like I have had in most of the past 50+ years, easier breathing and

better circulation to the pau d'arco tea.

I'd like to chime in on the Pau D'Arco tea, I just came down from a

practically debilitating 10 day high from that tea! I started taking the

H2O2 and the tea at the same time so I assumed my constantly buzzed state

was just major die-off from the H2O2 so I stepped back down on that and

continued all my other antifungals: garlic, coconut oil, and the tea, well

my " buzz " didn't go away until I stopped drinking that TEA! I was afraid to

drive I was so stoned. I am finally able to think clearly enough to write

this warning, be careful with the Pau D'Arco tea! It's effects are

cummulative on the body too, the first few days I drank it I felt nothing

then after 4 or so consecutive days I was sailing!

Shirley G.

P.S. Whoever suggested the Castile soap from Trader Joe's, thank-you very

much. It is wonderful. I got the one with peppermint oil in it and it is

delightfully " sting-y " It was only $8.99 for a qt or so.

Hmm ... interesting. I've been drinking 3 glasses a day for almost two

years and have never noticed anything like that - not once.

Maybe it affects other people differently?

Either that, or you got something other than pau d'arco! :-)

Hi Shirley, I don't think it was the tea that made you

high, I think it was the toxins from the candida dying

off that mimics being drunk. But definitely you would

want to cut back on the antifungals a bit if you can't

drive, and go slower on them.

That was me, and I have used the Peppermint too with

good success, but I find the tea tree soap does a much

better job for tougher skin problems.

The peppermint makes you feel so refreshed, it's like

the feeling you get when you brush your teeth, but all

over your body. It's just the cleanest feeling

without being harsh at all.

The tea tree oil is antifungal and antibacterial

though, and is much better for tougher topical skin

issues like rashes, acne and psoriasis, but is also

mild, but not as refreshing as the peppermint.

hi shirley-

i also have not had any stimulated or high feelings from pau d'arco.

zack's idea is a good thing to follow up on, make sure that what you

got was indeed pau d'arco, and if it is, make sure its not mixed with

green tea or some other stimulating tea.

die off symptoms can create light headed-ness, dizziness, etc. so it

could be that, how much were you drinking in a day?

Hi Debby,

I am going to try it again next week and see what happens. All my co-workers

want to know the name of the stuff I'm drinking! ;+)

Very good description, that all over freshness nails it! I am doing the

H2O2/epsom salt baths and I didn't feel good about using a cheap toxic soap

afterwards when I rinsed off, it was really starting to bother me because I

thought that one was negating the other so your suggestion came right on

time. Thanks again. How's your mouth doing?

Just putting my two cents worth in on the Pau D'Arco - I am drinking about 6

cups of it a day (to relieve chronic hives) and it has had no effect on me

whatsoever mood or reality wise!!

RE: [ ] Re: Pau D'arco Tea

Hey Suz,

I'm not sure you can qualify this as a die-off. I was " high " high. I know

this because I smoked pot when I was young and foolish. I had bloodshot

eyes, cotton mouth, the munchies, I couldn't remember anything, and I was

paranoid. It was exactly like I remembered from years ago. My friend had a

theory, he thought the H2O2 was liberating all those toxins from my youth,

from my tissues. That makes sense to me but believe me when I tell you it

has stopped since I got off the tea and I am back on the H2O2. The pau d'

arco that Whole Foods sells is the Frontier brand. I also bought some from a

box and I will try that out on my next day off when I don't have to drive. I

do have a co-worker who drinks the tea and corroborated that she too was

affected similarly as I. FUNNY STUFF!!
