Vit. D from Sunlight in the Winter

Hello All,

in the winter, if the sun is shining brightly at noon and you can find

a private place to sit at south facing window, you can get your vitamin

D naturally.

For example, several days ago, about noon, it was in the upper 20's

outside but the sun was shining brightly. I opened one of my south

facing windows and sat in my rocking chair, reading a book (sans

clothing) for about a half hour. The sun's rays were quite warm on my

skin and I did not feel chilly at all (except when the sun went behind

a small cloud for a moment). Since last year, I have been doing this

every day (late fall, winter) when there has been bright sun.

As the sun gets higher in the sky at noon in spring and summer, I move

the sunbathing outside and earlier in the day. By the middle of the

summer, I usually sun bathe around 9 am before the sun's rays become

too intense and it gets too hot.
