Guest guest
Hi Gita: Thought I'd send this again, after waiting five days, and never seeing it come through the list. I had neglected to mention that. Many of the people on our raw-feeding list feed organ meats of various types, usually beef, chicken, or lamb, but I would use whatever you have available where you live. In a cancer diet, you are trying to get the best nutrients available, and by feeding raw, this provides a dog or cat the nutrients they need. Perhaps in the past, Molly vomited up the bones she ate because they were cooked. If you are worried about giving raw chicken necks, by all means grind them up--some people on our list do this because it makes them more comfortable about feeding raw. Or, if you don't have a grinder, perhaps you could use a meat cleaver and chop them into very small pieces. Speaking of necks, by the way, I would never feed turkey necks whole, because of their size. Because they are so much larger than chicken necks, there is a danger of a dog getting the turkey neck caught in the throat, trying to swallow it. Turkey necks should always be cut up up lengthwise in some way (or ground up) because of this danger. Where I live, I can find canned mackerel (and other types of fish) that is not salted. Is it possible to find some where you live that it not salted? If you are not able to find any, then you might want to try fish oil capsules, if they are available, in place of the canned fish. Good luck with Miss Molly, thanks-for the links as well as the precise information. What " organs " of beef may I begin with-this may be cheaper for me too? Molly has usually vomited when she ate bones of any sort (cooked of course). At this point I will not dare to give her chicken neck even as is-might I grind it up and give? Canned fish mostly has salt-how do I deal with that?
