Guest guest
New evidence is beginning to emerge that the body can store vitamin D for about two weeks. The body can make about 20,000 units when exposed to sunlight for about 20 to 30 minutes depending on the skin type. Of course no vitamin D is made during the winter in the US. The body needs (depending on the individual) about 5,000 units per day, more if fighting cancer. Testing is the only way to know for sure. It takes 48 hours for the vitamin D to be absorbed into the skin. Washing with soap will send it right down the drain. If your shadow is longer than your body during noon time hours, no vitamin D can be made from the sun as it is at the wrong angle. It is not possible to get enough vitamin D from foods.
