Guest guest
I had a colon scope yesterday after having pain for a few months and after blood in movements in the past month. The doctor found....in his words...a polypoid lesion most consistent with cancerous polyp. He took a number of samples and is sending them for a biopsy. He said he feels it is most likely cancer. He said I should have surgery. This is going very fast for me. I'm 67, and am freaked out. By the way I did the colon scope without sedation because I have a fear of sedation. So I saw the polypoid lesion on the monitor and it looked big and awful. I had a Barium Enema one year ago and a CT scan of the colon two weeks ago and they didn't see the Polypoid lesion. The doctor says that whether it's cancer or not it has to come out and that will require surgery in which the section with the polypoid lesion will be removed. I hate the idea of surgery and the idea of being sedated. This is one big nightmare. The only good news is that the doctor checked the CT scan from two weeks ago and doesn't see any spread of cancer and says that he believes that there is a 100% chance of a complete recovery and that I won't require a colostomy bag, but still none of this really makes me feel all that positive. Has anyone of you had a polypoid lesion and what did you do?
Guest guest
First thing to do: 1. Stop and take a breath! There is nothing that requires you to jump overboard because you spilled a glass of water while boating. Not minimizing the potential here, just remembering advice to a cousin of mine that had colon cancer and instead of 'jumping' into heavy chemotherapy, didn't and is here now three years later. 2. Let's hope this comes back benign. 3. Hopefully someone with experience with this 'thing' will address your concerns. Good luck, Joe C.
