Guest guest
They are all a bunch of " spiritual parrots " with no clues. How do they know that cancer come from anger ? Who told them so ? Trauma, sadness, griefs, fears, a lack of joy, of meaning.. of fulfillment..boredom, a feeling of being trapped, excessive worries, excessive sens of duties, stress, fear... is what I found when working with patients. The above are only labels attached to unpleasant feelings. If you take " anger " as an example and you look closely to it.. you will see that it is a composite feeling. Different for each one of us. If I take two persons and I ask them to hold their anger in front of them , like a transparent sphere..to describe me the content.. to give this thing called " anger " : a color, a taste,a smell and a name : I will get two completely different results. Sometimes what they called " anger " was not even anger!! Professor Vaillant (Harvard University) said: " People think of anger as a terribly dangerous emotion and are encouraged to practise 'positive thinking', but we find that approach is self-defeating and ultimately a damaging denial of dreadful reality. " Negative emotions such as fear and anger are inborn and are of tremendous importance. Negative emotions are often crucial for survival: careful experiments such as ours have documented that negative emotions narrow and focus attention so we can concentrate on the trees instead of the forest. " Even the Dalai Lama says he gets angry as does the Vietnamese Zen master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. The difference is that these two sages know what to do with their anger. Intense angry feelings don't automatically become unhealthy or destructive or drive negative actions. I am a true believer in a Mind-Body Connection and follows in this approach to Healing the protocol of Professor Spiegel Ph.D : " Acute stress can stimulate immune response, while chronic stress wears it down. These factors can have an effect on the body's ability to fight disease. " For Leshan : " The traditional focus is on psychological and emotional problems. Its basic questions are, " What's wrong with you? " and " What are the past causes? " Years of clinical research have shown that this traditional approach is not productive for people dealing with an illness threatening their lives. Not only is it irrelevant to their immediate concerns, but of far more importance, it has no effect on the course of their illness. Our work aims at helping them claim the right to live in ways they would find fulfilling, ways that generate enthusiasm and a commitment to the future. When they do this, their healing resources often respond. What do you really want? Although we each want something different, we all want more meaning, fulfillment, joy, and enthusiasm. To bring this about, we each have to find our own way to custom-design our life. There is no one right way that fits everyone. When we take action to bring about our own, individual ways to upgrade and enrich our life, this changes us emotionally, psychologically, in relation to others, spiritually and physically. Thoughts and feelings cannot cause or cure cancer, but feelings affect body chemistry (which affects the development or regression of tumors), just as body chemistry affects feelings. When we act toward ourselves in ways that truly help to nurture the best of ourselves, our feelings change in response. As we feel more positive about who we are, we find it easier to keep acting in ways that nourish us. Now, workers on offshore drilling plants suffer from painful ulcer due not to anger but to stress. You wrote: I've visited several " spiritual " healers trying to find a psychological cause for the pain and symptoms. They all say the same thing -- the pain, and original cancer -- is/was caused by anger. Well DUH. Gimme a break. What I need is help, not " blame the victim " advice. >
