Not from what I read. But one of the links I included below did say it

shouldn't be taken with Melanomas. It said the Amino Acid fuels the cancer in

this case. Since I don't know until the 14th if I have bladder cancer and what

type it is, I felt it was worth taking it for the pain I'm having in my back.

What I like is that I'm getting the rest I need. Working full time and worrying

about my health has made my sleep erratic, but it's easy to sleep when I have no

pain and this wonderful feeling of well being comes when I take it.

This morning I slept until noon. Typically I sleep until 3:00 a.m. and then my

brain starts ticking, even while taking DL-Phenylalanine. Some of what I read

said it can cause you to lose sleep, but I've noticed that it promotes sleep for

me. I can get back to sleep now when I've waken early and this will give me the

time I need during the weekend to brace myself for the following work week.

You can only take it twice a day, but my coworkers and I were noting that it is

effective until the next dose can be taken. There's no drugged feeling and

there doesn't seem to be that brain fog feeling either, so I don't have to worry

about driving or being at work and not being up to par. I told my coworker

about it because she suffers from migraines and what I read indicated that it is

very effective for migraines.

I don't think you can take it when you are taking antidepressants though. You'd

probably have to wean yourself off of them before starting it. I've been taking

Sam-e and a coenzyme formula of B for years, so I haven't needed

antidepressants.

Here's the links I found on it:

Is this DL-Phenylalanine addictive?

I tried the DL-Phenylalanine that someone posted here, and I'm very pleased

with the pain control. I'm not sure how effective it would be for severe pain,

but what I've read is that it works as well as prescription pain meds and it's

also given me a mood boost.
