Most labs run a test for women who's E2 levels are in the 100s. They are not very senstive or accurate below 100.
Guest guest
yes estradiol, ultrasensitive LC/MS/MS (reference range < or =29 pg/ml) in both cases Re: repeated blood work (quest diagnostics) On Sat, 11 Jul 2009 11:43:57 -0500 (CDT), you wrote: >had blood work done May 21, 2009 and repeated June 30, 2009. Guest guest
The first thing I need to know is did you put on the gel before you did the blood test. Doing this you can get very high levels in the first 4 hrs and if you got the gel on the spot where they take the blood it will spike you levels way up. Most men only get about 500 to 600 on this dose and a chart I have that I can't find shows how high levels go in the 24 hrs one has it on. It is best to get up take a good shower first thing in the morning then with out putting on the gel go get your blood done. This way it will show your Dr. how low you go on the gel it's when your on the low side you feel bad or on a roller coaster ride. Yes Estradiol can change daily. If you do your Estradio don't do the new Ultra test it does not work right and I can't for the life of me understand why they keep billing men for this test most of the time it's saying <2 and when a Dr. calls them they say they are having problems with the dam test. This has been going on for to dam long. I don't do this test anymore I went back to the old on it works fine Quest #4021 the range on this test is 13 to 54 if you go less then 13 it gives you the number I have been as low as 10 pg/ml on this test. Guest guest
The new Ultrasensitive E2 test at Quest has a range of <29 it's # is 30289X this test does not work right Dr. was pushing this lab test for Estradiol said it's the best test to do but it does not work right he will not say this but to many men are getting a result of <2 range <29. This is not possable so when I did my next set of labs I did both the Ultra. test range <29 came back at <10 my old test #4021 range 13 to 54 pg/ml on the same blood draw come back at 36 to high. My Dr. called Quest and they told him they are having problems with the ultra test. I called my BCBS and told them not to pay for this test. Guest guest
OK let me go one more step if you did the labs 18 hrs later and did not shower off the gel you can spike up the labs test if some of the gel was at the site the blood was taken. I just don't see high levels like this on this much gel.
