Guest guest
I have a couple of questions for you. I haven't been on this list for quite a while but are you XXY, too? It sounds like testicular size is the goal here, is that right? If you are a diagnosed secondary hypogonadism only, then achieving a larger testicular size using these drugs, might be out of your reach due to your diagnosis because in the absence of adequate LH/FSH from the beginning of puberty and so forth, the testes have a decrease sensitivity to LH/FSH. The use of hCG, a hormone only in the placenta of pregnant women has an interest for use in bodybuilding circles because it can mimic the action of LH in the body. LH, secreted by the pituitary signals the testes to produce testosterone. If your testes have not grown while on hCG, then I would image that you are not going to get much more growth no matter what you increase the hCG to. FSH does not increase the size of the testes significantly without increased LH levels. And if you are visually analyzing testes size, this is a poor method of judging your actual testicular function, since testicular size is not directly related to the ability of secrete testosterone. This is because the Leydig cells, which are the primary sites of testosterone secretion only make up about 10% of the total testicular volume. Also, using hCG can increase estradiol while raising the testosterone. Arimidex prevents the conversion of testosterone to estrogen, have you had your estrogen checked lately? Besides, if you block out estrogen all together, then you will develop other problems as estrogen is needed in the male body for it to function properly. Without the use of this drugs, nothing will be permanent, since secondary hypogonadism is pituitary failure, you will always need something that will mimic the gonadotropins or simply take testosterone if the maintenance of testosterone is what you are after. If you want permanent testicular increases in size, then have you looked into silicone injections of the testes? Ron St. Aubyn From: derick_trent <derick_trent@...> Subject: Secondary Hypogonadism, FSH, Testicle Size & Sex Date: Tuesday, February 17, 2009, 11:09 PM I've had secondary hypogonadism my whole adult life (I'm 40 now) and my FSH & LH have been non-existent in every blood test I've ever had despite whether using testosterone gel or using HCG. Without any medication at all, my natural total testosterone is 90. With therapy (HCG), it's around 450 and probably a bit higher at the beginning period of the shot. My doctor and I decided over a year ago to switch me to HCG as I wanted to produce testosterone myself, rather than relying on the gel. My doctor told me my testicles would also increase in size, but that has never happened. I've gone from smaller to somewhat larger doses (4000/week) and it hasn't made a difference. While my testosterone levels have been in the normal range since using HCG, I have to admit that I would like to have normal testicle size as well. I think I'll have to have some type of FSH therapy in order to achieve that, but I believe only people who are trying to have children go that route. So, my questions are: 1) If I'm using only HCG to obtain a normal testosterone level, but it isn't increasing my testicle size, what is the best therapy to increase testicle size? I assume FSH. How is this done? If you obtain normal size, then stop, do you retain size as long as you still have a normal testosterone level? Or, does it require inconvenient and/or expensive therapy for your life? 2. Do doctors only provide therapy to increase testicle size if you want to have children? What about if you want it simply because you want to be as normal as possible? 3. Other than simply having normal testicle size, is there any benefit to achieving this? (e.g., sex is more satisfying, etc.) Thanks
Guest guest
Thanks for your response, Ron. I do not believe I am XXY which I believe would make me primary hypo, rather than definitely secondary, which I am. I've been doing well solely on HCG, as far as keeping T levels up. I agree and do not believe that they will increase in size regardless of how much I'm using. I'm current dosing 2,000 units (or whatever they're called) 2x a week. My doctor had started me out on 3,000 2x a week, but I felt it was a bit much. Interestingly, if I even use only 500 units 2x a week, and use a single androgel (2.5mg pack) a day, my T levels go to about 1,100 which is too high for me (I get acne). I read that if testes do not increase in size from the HCG, that FSH should do the trick. But, I'm not sure if that's something I can inject myself, or if it's something I will always have to go to the doctor's office to get. I don't know how expensive it is either, but I have insurance, and the Androgel was a bloody fortune for them, so I'm saving them a ton by just using HCG. But, if it's something that's not too expensive and I can do myself, then I don't mind doing it long-term as I'm already doing the HCG. But, if it's something that once my testes are large enough from FSH, and I stop using it, but keep using HCG, that they'll stay their normal size, then I definitely want to do it no matter what. If they shrink back without the FSH, then the jury is out on that one. Regarding silicone injections in the testes.....ouch...dunno if I would be willing to do that. Plus, I would think that silicone in the body potentially isn't such a good thing (e.g., the problems women have had with their breast implants, although that's a LOT more silicone). The use of HCG has not impacted my estrogen levels at all. I had them tested and I'm totally normal and not even on the high side normal. I assume this is due to the same pituitary dysfunction that causes me to not produce a measurable amount of FSH and LH. Guest guest
Derick, You know that the lawsuits about silicone implants was ruled the equivolent of a scam. Silicone was reinstituted by the FDA and other governing boards to be used for prostheses and other implantable devices several years ago. There are individuals who have reactions to anything that is implanted, but the autoimmune reactions that were linked to silicone have not been proven and there are thousands of articles and research documents that state that. The body building sites report that men with secondary hypogonadism who have been deficient of LH and FSH for a period of time before diagnosis, FSH will not restore testicular volume to a pre-diagnosis optimal state. And if volume is restored, it is not permanent. It is the steady output from the pituitary of LH and FSH that maintains size and function of the testes. And size and function of the testes doesn't always go hand in hand. Guest guest
Thanks very much Ron, that's what I was looking for. If I essentially would have to be taking FSH for the rest of my life in order to maintain size...then forget it. It's just not worth it. As far as the silicone thing.... we'll see, lol. Guest guest
You have to be there, in order to make the decision of whether an implant, petroleum based or not, will work for you. There are other substitutes that are offered and might be just as effective, if, that is the choice. And then there are the hormones or drugs available as a prescription, on the street or on the Internet, approved and/or not approved by the FDA or other regulatory board. We all do what we think will work for us. Trial and error. Whether it is a detriment to our health is of no concern if we feel better or view ourself in a more positive light. Warning labels are fun to read. They will either keep us away or draw us in for a closer look. Guest guest
People can do what they want but testicle size is pretty much over-rated (unless you are in the porn business). Testicle size is not related in any way to libido, frequency of erections, hardness of erections or strength/volume/thickness of ejaculate. No way I am going implants when the plumbing works great!!! Now if men could augment penis size length/diameter there would likely be run on cosmetic surgeries!!!!!!
